Could you limit BTB party sizes for BTB (and other team gametypes) to be the size of a team? I’ve had yet another game where one of my team members drove around in a gauss hog with an enemy gunner on the back, helping them kill us. Surprise, he was in a giant party which spilled over onto my team. Surprise, part of his gamertag was “booster”. First, people on my team didn’t realize what was happening. By the time they figured it out, the other team had all the power vehicles and were spawn killing.
One option is to betray the teammate but I’ve done that before and got booted. I just quit this time like at least two people on my team. Either way, it means I might end up getting a ban which is dumb. If the game can be exploited, these idiots will do so and this week’s challenge means that it’ll be happening more often.
I sent him the booster a message and he responded “cool story bro” so he knows exactly what he was doing.
I’ve never had this problem, OP, but i can see where you’re coming from. It’s fun for the large group, but not for the remaining players. It should be enjoyable for everyone.
It would be a good idea to consider limiting matchmaking parties to the size of the team in whatever playlist they’re playing, however there’s one problem: you’re then only limited to 8 people parties under these circumstances. 16 person parties would only be allowed in custom games.
Therefore, it’s an disappointing circumstance, but a fix for this minor problem would cause a drastic change in matchmaking.
Searching 9s in BTB is a lot of fun. Although, when my friends and I do it we don’t act like d-bags and we actually play against the rest of our party when we get stuck on the other team.

The easy answer here is to allow parties of sizes up to the team size of the playlist as well as multiples of that size (so either 16 or 1 through 8 for BTB). Most gametypes only have two teams if any except for multi-team where I’ve never encountered this boosting problem.

See, that’s fine. I do the same when I’m in a large party. We actually tend to go out of our way to kill our friends on the other team and then -Yoink!- the hell out of them while they shout abuse at us. That’s what friends are for! Unfortunately, the system as it is is open to abuse.
Full parties do get matched up with other full parties when they are both searching at the same time but there are alot more randoms than full parties. When I play by myself I rarely come across full parties but when I play in a party we often see other full teams.
> Sigh* Another idiot with no idea.

did you even read the OP? his complaint needs to be fixed. why it hasn’t already is beyond me…
Sorry but if you want your team to be exclusively your team with no members from another party then go and play Squad with 4 friends. BTB is for big parties up to 16 players and should remain such and never be changed. If you come up against players like that next time file a complaint and dont betray them or Shoot the gunner and not the vehicle. I often play with up to 16 friends in BTB and let 343 pick the teams. We get no quitters, No betrayers and no one on the opposition helping the other team.
I can also concur what Jamage007 said above. When we search in a party of 8 we often come up with another party of 8 and a lot of the time it is him and his friends in the party. We rarely get a team of randoms.
I am sorry OP but if you want to play BTB you need to get a party of 8 together to avoid these problems as well as randoms griefing you in the game over power weapons. If you have one open slot for a player it can be filled by a player with less than good intentions.

Yes I should go play Squad Slayer… oh wait. So what you’re telling me is that it’s okay for a team to search with 9, with full intention of that 1 person to sabotage the other team.

This could perhaps be a solution, but you’re then still stuck with one problem: only up to a group of 8 will be allowed in matchmaking, unless you have a full party of 16 (of which the latter half of my previous post discussed) with the solution you proposed.
Let’s say I’m in a party of 12. With your solution, I cannot go into matchmaking without booting or adding four players, save for Invasion, thus I’d be only limited to customs. That’s extremely limiting the options for large parties in matchmaking, and would likely turn a lot of players away from Halo’s multiplayer. Not to mention it could be confusing trying to figure out what to play with a large group. It’s much easier just to go into BTB, Squad DLC, or Invasion and not think twice about party size or pondering whether or not you have to double your party and whatnot - just as long as everyone gets to play.
No i am not saying its OK. What happened is wrong, it sucks and i have sympathy for your predicament. What i am saying is just because it happens we shouldnt limit party sizes to 8 in BTB. There are other ways to handle this problem without losing the only 16 person party playlist in Halo Reach.

Well… what are the other ways to handle this problem i.e. getting stuck with a teammate who’s playing for the other team (phnar)? It’s against the forum rules to call these guys out in public or link a video of what they’re doing. The banhammer sails past their head. I only have enough people to put together a full BTB team at most one day a week so rolling 8s isn’t an option.
I dont want this! I know it is not fun when you are on a team that is really against you, but it is a lot of fun to be in those parties of more than 8, XBL lets us have 100 friends, but you want us to only play with 8 at a time? I say NO
