I love halo and I want to see infinite succeed. That being said with the rampant amount of cheating taking place online, and the free-to-play nature of Halo infinite, I do have my worries for its longevity. I hope others will join me in support of paying for premium anti-cheat service, if it turns out that people are able to hack the game. I would gladly pay 19.99 to see better/premium anti-cheat services make it into the game.
That’s an interesting proposition. Has this model been used before? Or is this your idea?

i dont think we should even have to pay to not have cheaters in our game. Paying for the campaing, dlc and skins is probably enough
Wow. Cant wait to see the rage this idea causes.
What if it doesn’t work?
Refunds?
Sure, I’d pay 20 dollars to make sure theres nobody
Using a modded controller or 3rd party cheats in my game.
Let’s see where this discussion leads

If only it was that simple.
That’s not how it works.

So lemme get this straight.
Halo Infinite is being hyped with free to play multiplayer…but if you don’t get the 20$ premium security package for it, expect to get bagged by flying elites with autoaim, full map radar, etetcetc
I got a much better idea.
Have someone from Microsofts stacked legal team submit a cease and desist order for copyright infringement to any manufacturer making this stuff.
They don’t even hide. They’re already violating tos
What’s their counter argument?
It’s for research purposes?
Maybe for researching how many people they can get to quit a game?

I think a simple verification process would be better. Like the google authenticator. You can set it to only play with other players that have that enabled.
Thanks for the responses, yeah I’m thinking somewhat along the lines of CS:GO’s premium service as that seems to have helped their service a lot. I feel a lot more comfortable playing in that que.
Keep in mind this is just saying if it does become a problem, maybe 343 have some real tricks up their sleeve and we’ll see heavy mod activity and advanced cheat detection. I’m hoping for the best but expecting the worse!
What i’m saying is If they could guarantee a system that works like 98-99% of the time, I would pay for sure.

I like your thinking, I definitely wish the cheaters and people who code the hacks would get dealt with directly.

A cease and desist order should be enough, and nobody has to deal with extended legal consequences.
A word to YouTube that videos featuring how to use these on console will be subject to a lawsuit and should be taken down and the accounts banned.
A note to amazon that people are selling items that violate copyright, and enable the violation of interstate commerce laws should suffice. (A federal crime)
These folks are making money, but not Microsoft money, a long protracted lawsuit would bankrupt them, and if they lose, they’ll be liable for fines, possible jail time
All games need a anti-cheat. It’s vital that it becomes an industry norm.

They’d just take their business elsewhere then, if they can’t put it on easy to view YouTube/Vimeo/Amazon/etc. The most anyone can do is just slow things down or make it harder, but it’ll never be truly solved.
Same with Anti-Cheat, it’ll slow down or deter casual cheaters who can’t be bothered to compete against it, but the truly dedicated will always find a way past it sooner or later.
Some protection’s better than none though.

Anything that can be done legally to slow or stop this should already be done being done! Rawr!
Even an agreement to limit what these devices can do, like no online capabilities for matchmaking would be a victory.
There is another option.
Tell Frank O’Conner to gas up the replica warthogs, and we’ll drive them right into where these are being made.
We’ll wear spartan costumes to hide our identities

Srsly tho, I wonder if nothings being done so these folks keep buying expensive xbox controllers to mod
Free to play plus pc equates to cheater /hacker heaven , now through in crossplay and the consoles guys gets also get dragged into the cesspool . Whilst it can be slowed by the devs with anti cheats , legal ramifications on cheat software sellers it’s never truly solved .
Every free to play has wrestled and continues to struggle with this issue long term halo will be no exception.paying for a premium anti cheat isn’t the solution as the devs SHOULD already be using and applying the best anti cheat software available to them at all times to protect the integrity of their game
I’d rather not have to pay rent to daddy 343 Industries to fight cheaters for me. That should just be a given when I buy their game.
There’s a high chance the game would not survive this kind of business strategy.
Microsoft would get quite the bad reputation for monetising keeping players who pay more protected than those who don’t pay.

Exactly.
Not going to lie, I am pretty worried about this. All f2p games are full og vheaters. Even in mcc with eac you still encounter hackers from time to time. They’ve been mum on the anti-cheat so far (I think), only stating they’re not doing invasive stuff like Valorant…
But why not I say? I know some people don’t like it but you get next to no cheating/hacking in Valorant. I don’t care if they have to frickin root my system, just keep damn cheaters out.
