Campaign aside, I think the gameplay for Halo 5 is pretty good. The multiplayer would be great if the magnum wasn’t the only viable option for a primary gun in PvP. I’ll grab a BR and get into a 1v1 situation and I’ll get outplayed by someone with magnum every time even though I’m on pace to 4 shot. This happens even at long range. My fear for Halo Infinite is that this issue will repeat reoccur in the multiplayer. After seeing the tight, precise shot of the magnum in the gameplay reveal, I became nervous because I desperately want the multiplayer to not focus solely around the magnum. Does anyone else agree with me?
I think that Halo Reach and 4 had the best iteration of the magnum. Small clip, decent range, good damage, high recoil. It could kill faster than other precision weapons, in theory, but was counterbalanced by higher bloom and an 8 round clip. I know that bloom is controversial, but in this case it gave the magnum a unique role: a close-range precision weapon that can still work well at mid-to-long ranges, but not as well as a DMR. Paced shots at range, and mash the trigger when you’re getting bull-rushed.
With this kind of magnum it felt useful, and occasionally a bit better than other precision weapons, but most of the time it was just a backup. As it should be.
I personally want the H5 magnum starts, just make the BR worth picking up this time around. That wasn’t the magnum in the gameplay reveal by the way.

Agree with Fully Skully, the H5 Magnum feels amazing its TTK feels higher than the BR though everything is so close together. The BR pre-weapon tuning update was honestly better, even though it was an absolute laser (you can go to custom and use the Stabilizer BR for comparable results) Halo’s weapon palette was low key ruined with that update but that’s a discussion for another thread.

I wouldn’t mind starting with the magnum I just don’t want it to be the only gun that should be used. I’ll pick a BR up and get into a 1v1 and I’m on pace to 4 shot someone and I get outgunned because the magnum is just faster and super precise. If it had bloom or more recoil it would be perfect but it’s so tight that its better than the other precision primaries like the BR or the DMR

Exactly what I’m saying. As H5 is right now it’s not even worth using BR as a primary. I don’t want the magnum to suck, but I don’t want it to be better than the BR/DMR either. I wouldn’t add bloom though, that’s as bad as adding random spread in my opinion.
