Please let me play strongholds

I need to complete two stronghold games for my last challenge.

Guess what I’m not getting?

I’m genuinely content with uninstalling Halo and never coming back if this isn’t addressed in season 2.

I know why you do this… to sell more challenge swaps. Could you just for one second let players have it easier? Are profits that critical that it’s money over player enjoyment every time without question? That in the long run seems like a very, very slippery slope.

1 hour and 30 minutes later.

After quitting goodness knows how many games, I’ve had 1 Stronghold mate and a 10 minute ban.

This game is something else.

these challenges are infuriating. the game mode specific challenges that require any mode from quick play can be removed asap. i SWEAR it feels like, if you have a strongholds challenge, you get strongholds less often. but that’s totally IMHO. no data to support, but it feels that way.

The only way to prove it conclusively would be to look at the source code, however there’s a boat load of people on forums and social media stating this is the case.

I’d be shocked if it was purely ‘bad luck’ at this point.

I feel like this could definitely be a thing and if it was, would be insanely misguided and dishonest on 343 part. Of course it could just be gamblers fallacy at work.

I am somewhat convinced it is all in our heads though. Jumped on the one night relay fancying a game of CTF and I didn’t get it in about 10 games. Had no challenge to do it, just fancied CTF. Left me thinking huh if I did have a challenge for it I’d be convinced it was against me and it would be infuriating.

Hope they remove the gametype specific challenges. They’re frustrating.

It would make sense from a business standpoint, forces the players to play for longer durations, and more often. It was a huge controversy when Bungie were caught lowering daily XP gains until eventually players were not earning ANY XP, and called the devs out.

From a corporate view, it’s shady, but not illegal. Just a super disgusting business practice. I’d sincerely hope 343i haven’t been up to something similar with challenges.

You can quit every other match, not multiple in a row. So I had challenges like “play 2 capture the flag games” and also “play 5 team slayer matches”. I went to quickplay, if it wasn’t CtF I quit out and went to team slayer. Played a match of team slayer and went back to quickplay. If it was CtF I played the match, if it wasn’t I quit out and went to team slayer.

This way you can complete multiple challenges without getting banned or having to use money for challenge swaps. I know the challenges system needs A LOT of improvements, but this is a way to deal with it. All the best.

FYI… you probably know this already, but just to be sure: do quickplay and not ranked. In quickplay your teammates will get a new teammate, in ranked they do not.

Last week I started with a challege to secure one, single zone. I ended up swapping it out at the end of the week because I never got a stronghold match (I didn’t try super hard to get it, but still).

Seriously, knock out all the other challenges and when you got like a CTF, oddball or strongholds, go play ranked. You’ll knocked them all out real quick

I’m still unranked, I avoid that playlist like it’s instant death. May try this if the problem persists. TY for the advice

The sad part here is the only way to get these sorts of dumb challenges done is by leaving as soon as the match starts if it isn’t the game mode you need. Then you run the risk of a Ban AND you leave people remaining with lop sided games.

I have been forced into this behaviour myself.

Clearly 343 has to re-think this idiotic sort of thing when the Game Modes are RNG.

here’s an idea that would solve everyone’s issues with most mode specific challenges! give us a BETTER QUE SYSTEM THAT IS PLAYER FRIENDLY AND ISN’T RELYING ON UNFUN RNG

I can say that I had to get oddball and it took A LONG TIME to get that game. I don’t know why we can’t just filter out the games we don’t want to play. Who wouldn’t allow that option?

Bye, Felicia. See you tomorrow!

Same boat. Out of the 20 map and gamemode combinations in Quick Play, only 2 let you play Strongholds. The same goes for Oddball. It’s ridiculous.

Slayer and KOTH have their own playlists. Attrition should be its own playlist. I don’t care that a Team Objective playlist would have fewer players, because at least I’d actually get some resemblance of choice in what to play. Compounded with the challenge system requiring specific gamemodes in matchmaking, it’s just a joke.
