I like some of them, but fire helmets just mean you are easier to find
I have to agree, I’ve seen the Leaks for the Armor FX and I really do wish they make a Toggle for it personally for me it looks way over the top, Halo Reach was fine because it wasn’t overdoing it but Halo Infinite it just feels like Call Of Duty to me in my opinion
tl;dr non halo armor/armor effects are the problem
I agree. While I respect everyone who enjoys flaming shoulders and helmets and everything else I prefer my halo experience a little more pure (Meaning just a bit more realistic then pure fantasy armor I’m aware Halo isn’t realistic.). MCC has a toggle that you can turn off ones like this while your playing so it would be nice if they implemented the same thing. Even if it does come later since they’re trying to polish the game as best as they can,
While I’ve never liked the VFX stuff myself, you’re right that this is a bigger issue. I’m almost certain the outlines were introduced to highlight players’ individualised Spartans. Ironically, it’s made them barely distinguishable. Outlines should only have ever been introduced to friendly Spartans, in my opinion.
I like birthday parties, usually have it on in campaign
Soooooooo… we go back to what I said at the beginning. It is like a loop.
I think you should be allowed a toggle for this, I personally like VFX cosmetics but i wouldn’t want other players’ experience hindered by having to see flaming heads everywhere.
You are definitely not alone on this i’ve seen this topic brought up many times before, and I have faith 343 listens to the halo community, pretty sure they will do something about it.
Then you’ll simply have to adapt to it just like you did the past 20 years, excluding TMCC.
I think it is extremly arrogant to ask for such a feature just because you don’t like those gimmicks.
Sorry pal, but they’re part of the games asthetics, this is not TMMC, not a place to celebrate past memories, but the next step ahead. 343i sees that stuff as part of the games visual identy and if you despise them this much, the game’s maybe not your cup of tea, simple as that.

I’ve already sworn to never play Vanguard for the inevitably silly cosmetics and am really holding my breath for Battlefield 2042’s visual consistency. I really don’t want to give up on Infinite after we worked so hard to get a style that embraces the best of Bungie and 343’s designs. Tired of everything throwing it’s visual consistency to the wayside for the $$$ but I guess that’s what makes the world go round.
In the same boat. I tend to stick to games I play. Out of the 3 games I was looking forward to (Halo, battlefield, elden ring) only elden ring has my undivided attention now. Halo’s gameplay is great, but with 343 it seems to be 3 steps forward and 43 steps backwards. Battlefield 6 is a mess. It’s an unplayable, watered down, battlefield experience and after playing the beta and having seen what state the game will launch in, I am just going to do what I did with bf5 and wait a year before purchasing. Elden ring is my last hope
Relax, it’s completely fine for people to ask for changes that would make the game more enjoyable to them. It’s all part of the conversation, and it’s up to the developer to decide what is and isn’t optional.
It may well be that 343i decides that these cosmetics are an uncompromiseable part of the game’s visuals, in which case it may not be for those who dislike those cosmetics. Either way, it’s not for any of us to declare how 343i wants the game to be, or berate others for asking for these settings.
This has to be the single most ridiculous response I’ve got so far.
Boy, that’s sure not the impression that was given by the closing of the “eat your mush” thread. But I’m glad that at least you feel that way, even if others in charge here don’t.
On topic, I’m a big fan of options. When options can make more people happy, I think they should be included, so I support @The_MetaChief in wanting a toggle. In fact, I’d like a toggle to disable all customization.
How is that arrogant? Lol like what? Who are you to decide who this game is for?
So who’s willing to bet a Battle Pass that there is/isn’t a toggle for viewing customization?
Kidding aside, the “who are you to speak for all” finger can be pointed by neither side, because both sides’ opinions affect the game as a whole. Having no toggle-off option to view cosmetics requires the population that doesn’t want to see them to view them anyway. Having a toggle-off option to view cosmetics reduces purchase incentive for the population that considers buying them and therefore shrinks the sole revenue stream that supports the MP suite (see above for the economic explanation).
I’m just purely fascinated by the fact that–after 20 yrs of Halo–a central argument about the game’s direction is about cosmetics now that it’s the sole means of supporting the MP suite. Still excited nonetheless!
A pretty ignorant response, he has all the rights to voice his opinion, he wasn’t even being arrogant at all
I find it very jarring when it pops up on my death cam… I too want to turn it off
as I have mentioned before, I really dislike armor effects, so I don’t use them. however, now there are kill effects that force the user’s effects onto other players. so now those of us who dislike the distracting effects are having them forced upon us every time we die in the multiplayer. there really needs to be a way to disable armor effects and non-canon cosmetics.
