I absolutely despise VFX cosmetics, and I’d really appreciate the ability to never have to see flaming helmets, stink clouds, birthday parties or flame shoulders.
I’ve always hated this stuff all the way back in Reach. And, whilst I’d never stop someone from expressing themselves I just really don’t want to see it.
I am curious how the death VFX works though. Cause the one we saw looked like a vaporized effect which is what hardlight always does so then what’s the point of hardlight having that property?
I can understand your take here, but at the same time - this is a new era of Halo & it’s not 2007 anymore. & I for one am so excited for all the new customization options. I don’t think 343 will go so crazy with it that it breaks immersion. They’ve not implemented emotes for that very reason.
I was relived to see that they omitted emotes and such. At least for now. I’m not saying that they won’t come eventually but I appreciate their sentiment in how older players would probably reject them and trying to keep with a military shooter theme.
I actually like the vfx stuff, the bigger eye sore to me is super bright red outlines. You can barely even see different armor on other players most of the time because how much the outlines blot out which seems to defeat the purpose of it. I would at least like the option to turn off outlines if I want to and ideally switch back to red vs blue spartans, similar to how turning off new cosmetics works on MCC.
That kinda worries me a bit. Will every death have that VFX, if equipped? That’s gameplay affecting. Noticing dead bodies on the ground is important, especially in stuff like Strongholds and CTF.
Mmmmm that’s an interesting argument because then you’re effectively saying hardlight weapons shouldn’t be in those modes because they already vaporize enemies on death.
I see what you’re saying but I don’t think it has much merit with the systems that already exist.
It is not a question that now suddenly people do not like flames, this type of cosmetic has always been supported since the time of Bungie, as with armor like the Hayabusa, but now everything new seems to be rejected as soon as it is shown without giving the creative team a chance to show their potential.
Pal, you’re talking to me not the Halo community of 07. I’m very pro-Infinite. I just don’t like VFX. I’m down for fractures or whatever, I just don’t and never have supported VFX
If it’s any consolation, it’s just not canon stuff, so it’s not something you need to worry about, think of it as visual effects that the Spartans put into the virtual training simulations they do, just for fun.
