Please keep Join in progress

I’ll keep this short as I’m sure this has been talked about before. Please let Halo Infinite have join in progress, Its a problem on MCC, I play every day and 50 percent of my 4v4s wind up being 3v4 to 2v4 etc. People don’t seem to care of they’re penalized for it, its just not a good detterent.

If join in progress is an option we can turn off, that’d be nice. I don’t like joining games to fill the void of someone quitting because that just means I’m getting thrown on the losing team and will suffer a loss on my record because of it.

Except if it’s implemented well neither of those things would be a problem. Have you never played CoD?

Not since Black Ops 1.

The only way join in progress works well is if you can see what match you are joining, and choose on your own.

Here’s my counter offer: You can’t be forced into a losing match that’s more than 25% complete. Gives you a reasonable shake at helping your team.

Yeah I agree, which is actually part of what I think makes a good JiP system. Personally I think 25% may be a bit lenient, maybe 35%+, but it would certainly need a cap. Joining a match that’s 3 kills away from being over is lame.

Have you? CoD in certain modes is basically a road filled with anonymous travellers. Every stat at the end of the game has zero value due to the continuous shaffle of players. Sometimes in that series I have the feeling I’m playing against bots rather than actual humans exactly because so many people are quitting and new ones rejoining.

Halo is and should be more personal! Even in BTB you start learning every single player, their quirks, armours, how good they are - you love some, you hate others, but it’s “I love to hate them” kind of deal mist of the time. That’s not something most mindless Twitch shooter with that join mechanic managed to give me! In CoD specifically players are shadows that you forget about in t minus 10 seconds, and that’s mostly because you can join every game at any time. Not to mention the annoyance of entering at the last quarter of a round with no chance of changing the outcome of a win. I rather take the 2v4 loss than, but have fun with some actual Halo folk!

And like so often the best solution would be an option. If I’m not forced to join an ongoing game fine, I can accept that! The CoD like human trafficking issue would still be there though.

Yeah keep it on the condition that the current match only has between 1-3 minutes have been started anything longer than that usually and the match has already been decided.

If Infinite describes a difference between casual and comp like MCC and Halo 5 does, put JIP into casual and harsh quit penalties in comp.

It feels like such an obvious solution that there must be some problem I’m overlooking when I suggest it.

Easy, if you join a losing game it shouldn’t count towards your record.

If they implemented it well you wouldn’t join at the butt-end of a match. Also, 90% of what you just posted has literally nothing to do with JiP. If someone quits, then it doesn’t matter how much of a “connection” you made, they are gone, so filling it with another player (in the event he left early enough) is far better than running 3v4 for an entire match because someone DCed while loading or left 45 seconds in.

Personally I like the Titanfall system. If you join a losing match and turn it into a win you get the win, if you can’t and lose you don’t record a loss but you do get any xp earned. If Halo were to implement it I think it will solve a lot of issues. One thing that’s for sure… Bans don’t deter quitters imo, there has to be a better solution.

I think a simple "I give up

It has everything to do with joining-in-progress systems, because those that quite are gone and done, but part of the two teams always remain. In Cod you could be the last man of both teams. So yes, I rather have the 4v3 than, sorry! But It’s a big part for why I can’t stand console twitch games at all! And yes, I include H5G into this.

That said I’m not against jip as long as there are some set rules.

  • We need an “I give up” function similar to LOL. It would do wonders! If 3/4 agrees to throw the towel the game ends. - Joining in progress only applies to the first half of a game. - You can’t join a game if one team achieved at least 60% (?) of the mode’s score - You’re not forced to join a game in progress - I really like the TF approach described by Tedi! Loses in a jip match will not be counted! (might get exploited though if done poorly)I can see jip working well like this, and not just in Hi! But if it’s like H5 again where you can join at the very last second of a match? No thank you, I’ll gladly keep the MCC style in Halo infinite than!

Yeah it’s almost like forcing your players to stay in games they clearly shouldn’t have been put into in the first place wasn’t a good idea.

I’m fine if they use JiP again as long as it is optional. I’ve loaded into warzone games and played for maybe 30 seconds before the game ended. Nine times out of ten you are just going to be put into a game without any chance of winning.

Cod and Halo are very different games. Even joining a few seconds after the game has started still gives the other team plenty of time to take map control.

I agree with most of these requirements, but I am skeptical of the idea of making it optional. My concern is that too many people will disable it, meaning the few people with it on will get nothing but JiP games.

I agree its annoying if players suddenly leave and youre just sitting there getting your -Yoink- kicked because it suddenly turned into a 3v4 or 2v4 or 1v4.

I agree it’s really annoying when people rage quit. Especially when you try to complete the weekly challenges in MCC.

Please let people choose if they want to participate in JIP. I don’t mind if it’s there as long as I have the option to toggle it off

Actually love this.

Join In progress I’m iffy on. If there can be an option to turn it on and off, that would be perfect, but that seems tough.
