Please Help! Split-screen question

Does anyone know if the split-screen frame rate issues has been fixed or patched recently? I would love to share some MCC epicness with my roommate but we are afraid to go out and spend more $$ on another controller to find out the game is unplayable while split-screening. Any info regarding this would be greatly appreciated!

Also does anyone know if there are issues on MM split-screen

Hey OG SupaScan,

ultimately, it “might” work…but the issue you’re referring to hasn’t been fixed yet

Let me give you a few examples.

(all offline customs)
I tried to play a match of Halo 3 FFA (free-for-all) with two buddies of mine, that worked (FFA on Guardian), the very next game we try is Halo CE, crashed twice

Tried to play Halo 2 (lockout) 1v1 split screen, crashes three times consistently, even after trying to reboot for each time.

Played a 2v2 on Halo CE successfully (Blood Gluch CTF), played 2v2 on Halo 2 Classic (Midship TS) successfully , play Halo 4 2v2, crashes.

(MM split-screen)
I have had games for the majority of the time work on MM, but they still crash from time to time, even mid-game.
For example, I might play TS on Halo CE and that works, but then Halo 3 will crash mid game, or something else.

Some users did post about this issue (including myself), but I’m sure 343’s top concern is MM for parties and single screen experiences first (majority of people fall into that
the majority of the time). I’m sure campaign and other fixes will come later, probably next year around March depending on how long the MM works.

tl;dr

It’s not a consistent experience and you’re best waiting until more patches come out before buying another controller, etc.
At this point in time, only single-screen works best.

I think the issues are pretty inconsistent, because my wife and I play almost exclusively split-screen and haven’t experienced many framerate issues. We still have all the same MP issues as everyone else, but I get those even when I’m playing by myself. The biggest issue we’ve run into is the H2A campaign. It crashes 100% of the time if we’re playing online. So for the campaign we have to take our Xbox offline and then connect when we want to play MP. But the game, for the most part, has been very playable for us using split-screen.

I play splitscreen every day, and I’m sorry to say they aren’t fixed. There is absolutely know reason why the frame rate should drop below 40 FPS whatsoever. The Xbox One is at least 10 times more powerful than the 360—it can handle the power that split screen provides. I believe that the issues aren’t caused by the hardware of the Xbox One, but rather the game’s terrible rendering engine, which doesn’t seem to take advantage of multithreading, multi rendering, screen buffers, shared rendering, process management, cloud computing, and high quality code.

In other words, don’t blame it on Microsoft. Blame it on the programmers who made this cluster -Yoink- of an engine.

I also don’t think it will be patched—multiplayer is the only issue that people actually care about, unfortunately. It could also be argued that poor split screen quality will make the consumer more likely to buy another console.

I’m talking about an average of 20 fps for H2A multiplayer, forged and regular maps. (cough Bloodline cough)

Also, go ahead and buy another controller anyway. They’re only $60 USD and the performance drops can be tolerated. I think it will be worth it in the long run. (there are other games that support split screen)
