I don’t get it cod always has 60 fps with like 15 maps and they can do split screen. Halo mcc has all 4 games with one a remaster running at all 60 fps and have over 100 maps all 60fps and they have split screen in all of them. Yet halo 5 has 60 fps with only 8 maps and a few warzone maps and can’t manage some things. How come that is do you think? Just the engine?
Maps don’t matter, it’s a time constraint. COD has always run at 60 fps and is using the same engine throughout, so the devs didn’t need to spend as much time as 343 on engine development. Both of the games you mentioned run an inconsistent 60 fps, but Halo 5 must be locked to 60 fps, or the engine will cease to function.
Halo 5’s engine is built for 60 frames, meaning everything from animation, bullet travel time etc are linked to 60 frames, this is why simply adding split-screen via a patch would be difficult (pretty much have to do the whole game again from scratch), and more.
343 had to spent time to work on the engine and to develop the game.
CoD has been 60 frames from the beginning, mainly due to the engine being reused for all CoD games, split-screen is locked at 30 frames so less time concentrating on engine work.
