This is the 1st halo where drivers do not get a55ists for their gunners kills. It’s kinda disappointing. If you’re going to put everyone’s KDA front and center on their service record, at least give drivers some incentive to continue being unselfish team players. I know they get the wheelman medal but I would personally rather get the assist. I hope it’s just an oversight (like flag carriers driving) and it’s going to get fixed soon.

Yeah, discovered that for the first time yesterday. What gives?! Racking up major assists as a driver is a Halo staple!
Definitely agree, the driver has little incentive to try their best in this game.
You do get a medal that goes towards the vehicle skill commendation.
That’s weird. You get them in Warzone, I get it all the time… why isn’t it in BTB? It should be in BTB immediately. To function right, you have a driver and a gunner who engage in jolly cooperation.
The combination of this problem + BTB being ranked + KDA being front and center really takes all incentive away from drivers to get in that hog and finish the game 2-6 when they could have just camped with DMR or grabbed power weapons and gone positive.

Not everyone focuses on “going positive” in an objective BTB game. I have won every BTB objective game and went negative almost every time. I have seen players go 35 and 5 and…lose. Too dang focused on KD.

I’ve seen threads where words like A55ist or A55ault had yoink injected into them. I wanted to keep it readable and serious.
I’m finding this an issue as well. Not getting Assists for Wheelmans takes away incentive to jump in and drive. Even if you know death will reign down on you shortly, it was usually worth it if you could get the gunner into a key position and take out enemies suppressing a spawn point or such. Personally I take the time to drive the maps in a custom game by myself just to memorize the layout. Been able to save more than a few gunners being able to drive backwards out of a firefight, letting the warthog take the brunt of the gunfire. Please bring back Assists for Wheelman.
