I made a post similar the other day but this is crazy. I won a game of odd ball and got no gain in my rank. Every person on the loosing team gained on their rank.
My team: plat4 27-23 no gain, plat6 20-31 lost a tiny bit, plat1 34-32 no gain, d1 24-24 lost a tiny bit.
This is crazy. I’d have been better off loosing I guess? How can this be? I had an over kill, multiple perfects, the most carrier kills and the most ball time and I get nothing but the loosing team all gain? They had a better team and lost, they should not be rewarded. That is not right.
I think the system works over a longer period of time not just game to game.
Source: I lost 5 in a row earlier and didn’t lose any rank, even went negative some games too. 6th game I won and I went up from about 1/3 of Diamond 4 to 2/3 of Diamond 4. The system wants me higher, it may want you lower.
Oddball does seem a bit borked, I’ve lost rank off wins and enemy team gained. I wonder if it’s because of the rounds, did you lose 1 round?
We did loose on round. They had a better team rank wise. But I just don’t get it. Ive played probably 50 games of ranked and gone up 3 times. Almost every game I’m top of my team. I lost 17 games in a row one day and never went down. When i finally won a game i didn’t gain either. I’m totally at a loss.
It’s a bug with oddball. Has nothing to do with the ranking system wanting you lower.
What happens is, if an oddball game goes into the third round, it’s possible for the losing team to technically have more total time holding the ball over the span of all three rounds than the winning team. I’m assuming it’s giving the win to the team with the most total points over all three rounds instead of the team that won 2 rounds first.
So, if you get into an oddball match and it goes into the third round, doesn’t matter if you win or lose the round as long as you have more total points than the enemy team. And vice versa. If they have more total points than your team, they will get the win regardless or what happens.
It’s a bug with oddball, it gave your team a loss because the enemy team gained more points on the oddball, when it’s supposed to work on rounds This has happened to me multiple times, that’s why the enemy team gained elo points.
Though I can not confirm I have a hunch that XP is rewarded based off team work. What do I mean by this? In odd ball the game is looking more for time holding ball, time spent near friendly ball carrier, and enemy ball carriers killed.
I’ve noticed for me personally that even if I end the game with the most kills and time holding the ball that I will not always gain rank. However if I spend time doing all three listed above then I do indeed gain XP after the match.
Rank is based on personal performance if you out perform your average self then you gain rank if not you lose rank or stay the same. I have consistently moved up from plat 6 to Diamond 4 in the past 3 days becasue I go super sweaty mode and focus hard af to play well. I’m hoping to get Onyx by this weekend.
