Please fix radar and halo infinite

There one problem I see with Halo and it’s the walking with out being on the radar. I believe it takes away from crouching and I see no reason to even crouch anymore please fix so people have to Utilize the crouching in game.

I have a hunch the reason they’re doing that is to make sprint not as buffed as it is in the other games, for E.g. Sprinting might be a faster alternative, but it also gives up your position as walking might be a slower alternative, but it does not give up your position.

Only thing I would change is to elevate the sounds of footprints to be in between halo 3 and 4. Noticeable but not obvious.

Crouching still helps with not being picked up by audio. I see your point, but I don’t believe it is as big of an issue as you feel. The minimap is easily overpowered when given too much information. Look at battlefield 4. Noone looked anywhere but the minimap because you were more likely to see players on the minimap than on screen. I think an easy solution would be to make crouching entirely silent. (I didnt make it into the flight so I wasn’t able to see how this actually works as of now)

I’m fairly radar agnostic… took me a while to even notice that the Infinite radar was working any differently!

But this is something I could get behind.

I’m for anything that discourages people crouch walking around the map.

Anyway, my Infinite radar would be;
0 - 5m; show everyone (including stationary targets).
5 - 15m; only show sprinters and have brief blips for people firing, jumping, or starting to move.
15 - 25m; only sprinters and blips for people firing.

I don’t understand your concern, OP. This new radar allows you to be stealthy without having to slog around the entire map like a snail. That’s a huge improvement in my eyes.

Definitely.

Get out of the shadows and into the fray.

Believe me I don’t see it as a concern I just want to be able to have stealth games like odd ball, Capture the flag, and base game in General like we did in Halo 1 to Reach.

It’s a motion sensor. What wasn’t broken, need not be fixed!

Keep it like 1,2,3.

I don’t think the motion tracker should detect walking at all times. Either make a piece of equipment that temporarily makes your radar detect walking or modify the motion tracker so that it detects walking at a shorter range than sprinting, or in a cone in front of the player rather than 360 degrees, or both.

Bro you walk in 1,2,3 like I said you were on the radar I’m so lost of what your saying when I said like halo 1 to reach.

Bro have you never play Halo ANY TIME you walk you are on the radar. I don’t understand your Point of View. A motion tracker= Track moves walking is moving why not be on a RADAR???

Basically, keep it how it was on those games. My comment obviously wasn’t aimed at your comment, given that we share a very similar view on the motion sensor.

I have been playing halo for the past decade. I understand what the classic radar is like, and I hope it will be an option in customs and maybe even in some playlists. But that does not mean there is no room to innovate here. Right now the radar is massively underutilized, 90% of the time players are not going to appear on it unless they’re sliding around the map constantly. I think the tracker needs to detect walking under specific conditions. What 343 decides those conditions are is up to them; I already listed my ideas, either a consumable equipment piece that lets your radar temporarily detect walking, or keep walking detection restricted to a frontal cone/shorter range.

I don’t want full walking detection because then there will be a meta of either sliding and sprinting everywhere (since you show up on radar when walking anyway) or crouch walking. It would essentially kill walking since crouch walk keeps you off radar while sprint and slide are faster and sliding especially is lower profile and lets you shoot as you slide. Everyone will just sprint everywhere and slide peek corners or go for slide strafes against people they see on their radar. If I wanted a shooter where everyone is sprinting and sliding everywhere I could just go play apex legends. Halo needs to say unique if it wants to succeed in what I think is an oversaturated market.

No thanks.
Old radar makes the game bland and predictable.
It made sense back then when Halo was everyones first fps. The spectrum has changed now.
The new radar rewards map knowledge situational , awareness and teamwork. Makes the game more dynamic and allows for flanking.
I understand your concerns. But by this mindset Halo will never evolve and would become stale. There’s wanting the series to keep its heritage and soul. But there’s wanting to drag the series down into irrelevance.
Try to adapt and be more open minded.
Instead of wanting the old radar. Provide feedback to makes things better. Like maybe widening the radar range and making footsteps louder.
Have a good one.

I respect what you say I been playing Halo for two decades and just want A GOOD HALO I love this Community and just can’t wait to see you in the Arena. You have a great day brother or sister or what ever you want to be called.

The radar does not need to show players at all time. In my opinion, it should only show players that meet the following criteria:

  • Actively firing a weapon - Visible by other teammates (This kinda would work like a fighter jets data link. For example an F/A 18 is able to send target data to your weapons systems on other enemy aircraft even if the other enemy aircraft isn’t detected on another jets radar or in visual range) - Maybe sprinting…Radar should not be on all the time.

This is halo, not COD, and showing up on the radar has always been a thing until the last couple of games. I am not a fan of the Tracker in infinite. It can promote camping from what I am aware of how it works.

The new radar does the opposite: it encourages you to walk around freely, and your dot won’t appear unless you’re shooting or sprinting. The old radar is the one that rewards camping around corners.
