haven’t tried that. i’m just coming back to the game after a 4ish year break and see that they ruined a very fun game mode.

What is extermination and why is there such a dislike towards it?

Extermination is a 4v4 mode like breakout. However once you die you can still come back. As long as there is a member on your team that is still alive, You have a respawn timer just like any other slayer game. Simply some matches draw out to match when it’s a 1v4 and one person hides to stretch the game out. It ruins the entire concept of “one life” Which is what made breakout unique from the other modes. Extermination however feels more similar to slayer rather than the game mode it’s put in. If they would remove extermination I would gladly play the breakout mode more often.

I can see why that defeats the purpose of a one life game type.
Maybe if extermination was its own featured playlist for a week it’d be cool but I agree, throwing that into the mix with breakout seems a bit odd

That won’t happen sadly since it was not that populated. I dislike it since you are forced to get the game mode. It feels like super fiesta party where I get husky raid way more than any other mode. It feels forced down my throat.

If they allowed you to kind of ban certain modes you dont want to play then that could work too.
Like say you want to play team arena but leave out CTF, then you can just veto that game mode and queue up.
Not to be negative, but I doubt they’ll change anything. There’s still game breaking bugs in custom games that have never been resolved, if they haven’t been fixed I don’t see anything else getting resolved.
343 too busy working on Infinite, doubt they’ll change anything in Halo 5.

I completely agree with you. Breakout back in the day was my highest ranked playlist and with the addition of extermination in it, I hardly play it now, just did my placement games and a handful more
