Please don't take 10 years to make another one

Even though I don’t like the MP I still really love playing the games and would like more story.

Also please bring HW2 to Steam.

I have a lot of respect for the people at 343 who worked on Halo Wars 2, as well as the people who try and maintain it,(I’m looking at you BreezyStarfish) but I don’t think Halo Wars 2 sold well enough to warrant another one. If my memory serves me right, ODST sold better than Halo Wars 1, and look which one got a sequel. I love Halo Wars, but I think I can go without another one. (I’d play it if it came out though)

I’ve said this before, but maybe after infinite the next game they can make is a halo wars 3, which could continue the story of the characters of the halo wars series if they meet up with chief. If they do and split up again we could see their story in another game after infinite.

I bet you if they released it on Steam that it would sell a whole lot more.

3 years into its life span? I doubt it. I’m not saying that they wouldn’t make some money by putting it on Steam, but if they wanted to do it, they already would’ve.

Maybe, but also look at well Halo Wars 1 did on Steam. Not that many people use the Windows store. I bet you they’d at least double if not more what they sold on the Windows store if they released it on Steam.

I think one of the harder parts of getting a sequel that people don’t discuss enough is 343 needs a willing and able partner to develop a Halo Wars game.

343 is a FPS making company, a vast majority of their talent/skill is dedicated to making FPS games. Additionally, Halo Wars was mainly developed by Ensemble Studios, and HW2 was developed by Creative Assembly. So while yes the Halo Wars IP is owned and controlled by 343 Halo Wars games are made by companies with an RTS pedigree.

It’s not impossible to find an RTS developer to work with, Relic and Forgotten Empires come to mind. But the fact of the matter is the interest in RTS games has declined sharply with the rise of MOBA games, so the probability having two interested parties (343 plus X RTS developer) is fairly low.

That being said, I’d love to have a HW3. HW2 was my most played game in 2017 by a long shot, not to mention there are various loose ends in the story that need to be tied up. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 343 revisit the story in the near future, just might not be through the medium of a Halo Wars game.

Very true. 343 can’t just go and keep making games that their core audience couldn’t care less about. I also would love to see a Halo Wars 3, but if I’m being realistic, it’s not going to happen in my eyes. It’s really a shame, but strategy games aren’t for everyone by nature. 343 has to focus on the majority of the players, not the minority that want more RTS games.

It’s hard to know if another Halo Wars game will happen. No Steam release, a somewhat rushed DLC schedule and an inability to release updates quickly, hurt the player base a fair bit in my opinion.

I do think there’s a few devs out there that would love to make an RTS, but a lack of capital is the main issue. Having the financial backing of Microsoft would be great for a studio.

It’s definitely true that FPS games are what the majority wants, but I don’t think the Halo series should be locked to FPS exclusively either. The IP has a massive amount of potential that hasn’t been tapped yet.

But I think they have stopped even messing w the wars series
