Please don't ruin Halo 4 with terrible weapon spawns

If in Halo 4 the Magnum, is still a zoom-in, then I wouldn’t want the BR(Or Equal). I would prefer the AR and Magnum.

Not that many gametypes have Shotgun and Sword spawning weapons. Those that do are split with other loudouts.

AR/BR spawns will be fine.

So long that the BR isn’t a jack of all trades weapon like the DMR or the BR from H3 and that the Magnum is worth picking up over the BR for specific scenarios.

If the BR turns out to dominate over the rest of the sandbox then no. No AR/BR spawns.

Halo isn’t and shouldn’t be a one gun shooter.

A true master of the BR can take out a player with a shotty in close quarters. It’s easy.

Only if the Shotgun user is blind or has never played an FPS game before, otherwise it’s an automatic win for the Shotgun.

But I wonder how people managed to miss OP’s point. He wants us to spawn with AR and BR in Halo 4. Which I agree with because players need the ability to survive off spawn.

no, it has not. The weapon snadbox of Halo has always been about hierarchical structure where power weapons are the most powerful weapons in the sandbox, least powerful are the niche weapons, and somewhere between is the utility weapon. The utility weapon is there only to tie the ranges together by giving player the possibility to sutvive in a niche of a weapon the player doesn’t have.

But the niche weapons are always meant to be useful in their respective niches. The fact that Bungie failed at that in three games is just an accident.

yeah because the shotgun is really a long ranged precision weapon and only masters know how to use it really well in close quarters

Yeah, um, no.

For what ever reason when a Halo game is released they try to force nothing but AR or SMG starts on players. Even after the game has been out for a long time, they still try to force a CQC niche weapon on players as the main spawning weapon. This is TERRIBLE game design.

Players who just spawned cannot do anything against players who have what is the main utility weapon (BR/DMR) because they spawn with a weapon that cannot do anything beyond CQC range. (unless of course the player with the BR/DMR is terrible with said weapon)

AR/BR starts are better for everyone. All of the casual players get their bullet hose that makes a lot of noise and pretty colours while competitive players can just tap ‘Y’ and get the weapon they should always have and actually be capable of fighting off of their spawn.

Seriously? Every gun should serve a purpose, one gun shouldn’t be a “good at everything” weapon.

Halo is a one gun shooter and if a skill gap is going to exist it needs to remain that way.

Halo 4 will have a Campaign too :slight_smile:

Are you serious? Skill gap has nothing to do with a one gun shooter, in fact Halo was not even supposed to be this way.

Some silly Bungie employee edited the Halo CE Magnum strength to a 4 shot kill a few days before it went gold. That is what started all this one gun madness.

If you really want to play a one gun game, go play Halo CE, 2, 3 or Reach.

Leave Halo 4 out of this.

It’s great to see that someone who doesnt know the ce magnum is a 3sk is trying to wave their opinion around like it means something. In order for the game to have a functionng skill gap the utility weapon, when used near its max potential, needs to be able to beat non-power weapons in their respective niches. Otherwise the game just becomes rock paper scissors which is inherently random.

Halo is a one gun game. It needs to stay that way if 343 wants to cater to the audience that has been loyal to the halo franchise, the competitive fan base.

Come on guys, don’t fight! The solution to all your woes is not only the reintroduction of Ranked and Social playlists coupled with a proper ranking system, but a Custom Games Browser with a huge amount of Custom options, such as weapon properties and so on. That way, everyone has their own way to play! :slight_smile:

I got no problem with players spawning with a utility weapon as long as that utility weapon isn’t the hand of god, AKA: DMR.

A three shot weapon with spread, 2X scope would be much more balanced than the DMR off spawn.

Also, secondary weapons should also be complimentary. AR+Pistol is a good spawn off set up because the AR is the primary and it’s often too weak to finish someone off entirely, but the pistol have very limited clip but can clean up with a headshot.

If you spawn with a utility weapon it will of course the gun of choice by any informed player, and the AR next to that isn’t complimentary or balanced. A pistol along side the utility weapon is because they both have the same purpose, just different range.
