The sniper in Halo: Reach was ridiculous. Three shot kill on a banshee? Five shot kill on a tank? Seriously?
When I’m in a vehicle, I should be scared of lasers and rockets, not snipers.
And in the case that someone says “Well the Halo sniper is technically anti-material”, do you really want to go all technical and realistic about this? Jeez, if three shots from a sniper can pierce a banshee and completely slaughter it, then -Yoink-, Spartan armor should be -Yoink!- severed then from just one. Would that make you happy? The sniper is technically anti-material, so yeah a sniper should rip through spartan armor for a kill in one shot.
I do however believe that the vehicles should retain their weakness to normal weapons such as the BR and DMR. That was perfect in Reach. It wasn’t so strong that a single person with a DMR was an “OH NO!” threat, but strong enough so that a group working as a team with DMRs sure was an “OH NO!” threat.
Well the banshee is completely over powered so I support it being weak as hell. But I think the sniper should be able to damage vehicles just a little less.
I do somewhat agree. The vehicles felt paper thin on the armor whenever I drove them, making me use them less than I wanted. Still, its not the only things the vehicles have against them. It felt like any slight bump on the ground would send a vehicle spinning.
Getting into a vehicle in Reach usually means getting killed within a minute.
Sniper rifle really isn’t the problem here.
I’d like it the way it was in CE - you can shoot the driver of a tank through the canopy. I’d also like to see CE banshees but that would require a lot of tweaking of everything else.

Unless it’s the gauss hog. That thing is nuts to beat if you don’t have a tank or Spartan Laser
I support it wrecking the Banshee, but I agree for other vehicles. 5 shots to blow up a tank is absolutely ridiculous, no matter how powerful the Scorpion is. Leave that to that Splaser and Launchers.
It took 4 shots to kill a Banshee.
3 full mags to kill a scorpion and that’s IF you aimed for weak points.
I agree though. Canonically, it should be able to, but gameplay-wise, it invalidated many anti-vehicle weapons and made vehicle combat less predictable and enjoyable. Save anti-vehicle for the splaser and the railgun.
I would like to see a return of anti-vehicle weapons and pickups like in Halo 3.
The missile pod was a thing to be feared, as was the power drain. Reach had it wrong because the vehicles were too susceptible to weapon damage, they didn’t pose that much of a threat to a team full of people with DMRs. I think it was better when the BR could flip vehicles, and pester them, but not completely destroy them in a small number of hits.
I would say either ammo customiazbility options,or just another sniper rifle indicated above.
Sniper Rifle=The anti-material rifle.has a bolt action lock.Slow speed and poor accuarcy(think DMR radius) compared to the Snipeshot.Used for ant-vehicles opertaion.
Snipeshot=Anti-infantry Covenant sniper rifle.doesn’t do much to vehicles.3 shots to kill…1 to pop shields, 2 to kill the enemy.

the laser is fine
i for one would make the target laser a bit more noticeable, and increase the charge time by .5 secs, but that’s just me

5 more seconds? Are you serious? That would be enough time to hide the vehicle and bring entire Russian army as back-up.

Perhaps, but the Halo 3 laser put a bad taste in my mouth on hitscan OHK vehicle killers. I really liked the idea of Missile Pods and Plasma Launchers where the damage is packed in one slow traveling shell, but it has to be deadlier than Halo 3’s Missile Pod and Reach’s Plasma Launcher since those things are so hilariously evaded in a Warthog.
When I fly the Falcon, dodging locked on Rockets is one of my most favorite things to do. Since the rockets loop around a few times you have to figure out the trajectory of the rocket’s arc and plant yourself inside that arc (sometimes you are doing this for two rockets) and put yourself in a position where the rockets will hit some kind of terrain before it hits you.
I suppose my ideal setup would be a faster traveling, tighter turning Missile Pod or Plasma Launcher where the driver gets a flashing warning of incoming projectiles.

While I can’t help it but state that you should have just said 0.5s, I apologize for not noticing the dot.
> For every vehicle, there should be one weak point where a sniper can -Yoink!- up the vehicle. But that spot should be only as big as the sniper bullet
Considering that sniper rifle is a hit-scan weapon (therefore the bullet is not rendered), that’s a pretty small spot.
