Please don't listen to the whiners in halo 4

Dear 343i

When halo 4 comes out, no matter how hard you have worked, no matter how much play testing and modifying you have done, no matter how slick the game is SOME PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN.

Please, please, please ignore them. Don’t make the mistakes you made on Reach. Do not change settings to pacify the whiners. You will only succeed in creating a second generation of whiners who will whine about the updated settings. Ultimately, you will only exasperate players. Reach’s MM has become a mish-mash of disparate game types with a series of diluted, insular mini communities many of whom refuse to switch across to other play lists due to their ‘inferior’ settings.

You can not please all of the people all of the time. Don’t even try. It can’t be done.

Just be sure to release some form of beta and play test the absolute frick out of it. Fix things that are blatantly unbalanced and then when the final game comes out, please for the love of god leave it alone. If people don’t like it, let them go and play another game. Yes, this attitude may lose you some players, but nowhere near as many as you lost from reach with the constant pandering to the whiners.

From a loyal halo fan. Cheers.

If you’re talking about the addition of Zero Bloom, I disagree with you. ZB and the latest MLG settings are what brought back any competition to Halo Reach. Many professionals and older players started to play again because of these additions. Also, the latest TU settings I find more enjoyable then default Reach.

I do agree that there are too many playlists as well as too many split areas of the Halo community but that can’t be helped.

I also agree that 343 should do what they feel is right and don’t worry about people complaining but also consider how to bring together the Halo Community better.

>

So you’re against people playing what they enjoy? Cool.

I’ll tell you how it works. 343 have said they will give the options to revert the Halo experience back to a more original feel and have a playlist for it. If I do end up buying this game (which is looking unlikely with the GI leak) then I am within all rights to either have that experience or demand for it until I get it because I am the consumer, I am the one who buys their games and I am the one who pays their bills. If 343 are going to make games that a large number of people won’t like they can go right ahead but they won’t be buying that new car any time soon.

the “whiners” are around 90% of the forums if you were on these forums the last few hours you would have noticed it

Agreed, which is why they should cater to the competitive community and ignore the casual fans…Also, reach has been improved over it’s lifespan…vanilla reach was awful.

I agree with new features such as randomized power weapons spawn, X-ray vision and Spartan ops you can’t ever go wrong.

So you like Forunner Vision, Random weapon spawns, join in session??

So don’t listen to pretty much everyone?

Even the people defending 4/343 before have turned on them after this news

To clarify my opening post:

Sort the game out BEFORE RELEASE, then LEAVE IT ALONE.

How is this controversial?

Eh, the community really is only a very small minority. Made of what, around a couple thousand people? Personally, I don’t mind the changes. I’ll play it, just like I’m assuming some of you will. Halo has been about options, and I’m sure there will be a vanilla halo option for those than want classic halo touch. I’ll probably jump in that too.

No matter how much playtesting they do, there’s sure to be a bug or balancing issue somewhere down the line. What’s the point of them sticking their fingers in their ears and going “lalalala” when this is found? I’d actually prefer 343 to be more active with the updates, and updating things consistently when they need to be, not 4 months down the line in some huge TU.

Also the constant playlist updates are what actually seperates Halo from most games. If 343i ignored the “whiners” these would stop, and what we see at launch would pretty much be what we get 3 years down the line.

As far as I’m concerned the TU gave Reach a pop boost of about 10k. Sooo…

hopping its all fake…

This is all.

And there is nothing you can do about it. Just enjoy it yourself for what it is.

When you add stupid features to the game people are going to complain.

This.

Waypoint has 190k registered users. Out of those 164k have NEVER posted. A mere 14k have posted more than twice. From a game that is estimated to have sold 5 million copies.

The people who constantly whine on these forums represent a tiny, very vocal minority of halo’s community. And even that tiny minority can not agree on what settings should be used. Bloom/no bloom? TU/No TU? etc etc.

This is why 343 should not change things around every time a few dozen prolific posters spam the forums with complaints.

Hey, now that the futility of even being here has been established, they may as well shut the site down.

On the subject of vocal minorities: there have been 91,217 posts from the top 20 users out of a total of 744,746 total posts. That’s over 12% of all posts from 0.01% of the forum community.

We play Halo for Halo gameplay.
If I wanted Call of Duty gameplay, I’d go and play that.

Go post somewhere else, kid, I’ve been playing Halo for ten years and I’ll “whine” all I want when they hurt my baby.

Open your eyes, boy. Look at the front page of the site. Do you honestly think those are all trolls? Those are disappointed fans, sad to see their favorite series die in agony at the hands of fools who don’t know how Halo works. The new gameplay additions will not work .
