Please don't do what you did with Halo 4...

And have each retailer have its own preorder bonus.

I can’t be the only one who wasn’t very happy with this.

I have heard some people complain about this. However, I’ve never actually done preorders. So I don’t care about the bonuses. Sorry. I just think you’re missing the big picture. Of all the things they could learn from Halo 4, and you choose this matter? This is very insignificant to the game entirely.

But I believe the mentality behind what you’re complaining about is so that people can choose what retailer they want to go to and is available to them rather than having to go to another to get the preorder bonus you want. They should allow all the retailers every option but make the person preordering choose one option at their retailer. That’d be the best solution. I don’t see how you could complain with that.

I assume you skipped the multitude of threads regarding the “issues” with halo 4, and how 343i ‘made a mistake with halo 4, and need to learn from it’, or how ‘Halo needs to return to its core competitive formula’, or even how ‘AAs, perks, Ordnance’, and whatnot need to go? At least he’s thinking outside the square and raising another concern, not regurgitating the same crap over and over again, as the majority of these forum members seem to do every now and again.

On topic: Yes, i agree. There shouldn’t be exclusivities for certain stores, making other people miss out if they chose one retailer over the other. Also, i for one, do not like the fact that you have to purchase a map pass, to play online, separate from the game. It should come WITH IT!! In fact, just like Reach, you shouldn’t even need one. Thats my 2 cents.

Not everyone has access to Gamestop.

Giving people who only have access to a Best Buy or Walmart an option to snag a nice goody shouldn’t be done away with.

And I say this as a person who was also annoyed with the multiple retailer preorders.

My solution? Pre-order from everyone. If they give me printed codes on the receipt I use them then return it. If it’s in the case then I open it, turn around and sell it on eBay and take like a $5-$10 hit after the sale.

Note that I only go this route with retailers who don’t eventually release the preorders for sale through XBL. Like Rocksteady does, or did really, with the Batman series, or Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed.

I was very peeved that 343 didn’t.

If pre-order content returns, all retailers should have give same content.

It’s simply unreasonable to expect people to buy tons of copies of the game to get different items.

Also what pissed me off is legendary edition / limited edition console didn’t come with all pre-orders either. They should. They are special, limited editions after all.

I was meaning to say that maybe the title of the forum should be different and not imply that this is some major mistake made to the structure of the game. It should have been titled “Halo 5 Preorder bonus concerns” or something like that. I saw some of those other forums. Some of them aren’t all that stupid and need to be talked about so it gets 343’s attention. Others are regurgitated crap. But yeah didn’t mean to offend you with that or the OP.

Right. I hate that about games these days.

I hated it not only because I had to decide which bonus I wanted, but I had no idea what the heck I was choosing, either. I didn’t know if I was purchasing the armor, the skin over the armor, or what.

i wasnt to keen on different places having different pre orders but we dont exactly need them all, id love it if you got a code that let you select which one so you can pick the one you like best :stuck_out_tongue:

i was more disappointed at the legendary edition, some of the stuff in it was great but i thought it was a joke that forward unto dawn was digital only, so if this site goes or the waypoint app, its just gone, is have been happy with a dvd in a paper sleeve

I didn’t say anything about the other issues because there are already topics about them, and I do not wish for this topic to be deleted. I’m hoping 343 will learn from their obvious mistakes with Halo 4. I chose this issues because I do not see people talking about it on a daily basis.

The way they did preorder bonus with Halo 4 bothered me because I could not get the armor unless I bought more than one copy, or waited until the GOTY edition.

Edit: This is response to Tabula Rasa 117

What’s especially annoying about preorder exclusives is that some of them require you to live in a specific country.

Should I really have to live in New Zealand just to have access to a specific piece of armor?

That’s ridiculous. There’s no reason on why people should be alienated from a product because of where they live.

Pre order exclusive armor is very annoying. Some people like unlocking armor without Pre ordering from 100 different places.

Giving different retailers different pre-order bonuses is not a choice 343 makes. That’s solely on Microsoft’s part. They’re the ones that make the deals with retailers. 343 are the ones that are told to make them.

First world problems…

But in all seriousness, if it’s purely cosmetic, it really doesn’t matter at all.

I understand that no one wants a Halo 4.2! We don’t need 50 billion forums telling us that 343i can’t do what they did! now read this again in an enraged voice
