You get a black screen. Like always. But you don’t know the game is actually going on and you are being slaughtered while you remain stucked with your little black screen.
Remember?
PLEASE fix this issue in Halo 4. I don’t want it back. Ever.
Reach majorly fixed the game’s netcode. Never had nearly as many laggy games or as severely laggy as Halo 3.
@Dedicated Servers guy: Some problems with those is that they are expensive and further limit the life span of the game’s online. Also they do not cut down on all lag.
That is one of the problems with p2p. Someone’s xbox is hosting the game and if that person quits or has a network problem all hell breaks loose and the net code scrambles to find the next best host for the game thats when you look a a black screen for awhile. Some players get back in the game befor others and and kill while you stand there. With detecaded servers this cant happen because the sever is the host of the game and its not going to quit unless some kind of freak thing then every one is kicked for good. Thats more then likly not going to happen due to mutiple servers and a redundant network witch can move traffic from one server to the other in a failure.
> Dedicated servers can fix this real fast. Why anyone would still be in favor of P2P hosting in 2011 (or any year for that matter) is beyond me.
The same reason why Call of Duty will never introduce good Dedicated Servers, they cost WAY too much to keep going.
Halo 4 is going to be a big game is advertised properly and will be a big competitor in 2012, if 343 follow the suit Bungie did with a three year gap between the Trilogy games, 343 will have THREE years of Dedicated Servers to support, then they need to dish out money for Halo 5, then Halo 6.
Also, Dedicated Servers will cause them to be shut down if the price becomes too much, making online unplayable when a simple solution is just keep peer to peer and improve the netcode and search restrictions.
