Please don't add Microtransactions to MCC

Has 343 made any responses at all? Or did they sneak it into the post on Friday so that any discussion would die out over the weekend?

Personally, I actually don’t mind it because they did say it was just gonna be an addition. You’ll still be able to get everything just by playing, the MTs are just a shortcut.

Honestly the MCC team has done such a good job (SO much better than Infinite) that I feel like, if this is what they need to do to justify continuing to support this game to the execs, they should do it.

I think the point is that they are unnecessary; the game is not free to play, its low population, and all they need to do to fix the problem users are having is to increase rewards. Why are MTXs a better fix?

The master plan, boys and girls:

1 - Release a game, mostly compromised of games developed by a different developer, but in a completely broken mess.

2 - Spend years fixing it, building up the player base and bringing faith back into the community.

3 - Once popular, slap some juicy MTs onto it under the guise of, “We want to help you”

Well, time to uninstall mcc early to make room for mw2, i guess.
Somebody text me when 343 is no longer running the show or get their act together.

I seriously hope they don’t add micro transaction to MCC, that would just ruin the game.

“…we are internally exploring a potential new feature for the future in the form of purchasable Spartan Points.”

They really tried to sneak microtransactions in there with all the rest of the “news.” And you can tell that they hoped that people wouldn’t notice, they only mention the word “purchasable” twice in that blogpost. And they backend it by saying “we are happy with the current system of how players earn Spartan Points, by completing challenges and levelling up through play.”

Well, if the people at 343 are so happy with the way the Halo MCC challenge system works as is, then why change it? Why bother with the flak that they should have known would inevitably come from adding microtransactions?

Well (and you’ve probably heard this more times than you would care to remember) when you look at the Steam Charts, Halo Infinite, the brand new $500 million IP, barely competes with the player count of Halo MCC, a collection of 10-20 year old games. And that’s despite the fact that MCC hardly breaks top 50 on Xbox’s list of most played games.

I can bet real money that they are not making the kind of money that they thought they would. And if not money, then at the very least player engagement. Since they’re struggling so heavily with Infinite, I bet they’re looking at MCC as a last ditch effort to bring in additional revenue for their previous quarterly reports for their corporate overlords.

We’d probably have to take to reddit and twitter with out proverbial pitchforks and torches and force 343 to retract their plans for implementing anything purchasable with real world currency in MCC.

So, 343, let’s be real here. We know you like money. We know you like player engagement (or so you say). If you want both, here is some explicit instruction.

DO. NOT. IMPLEMENT. ANYTHING. PURCHASBLE. WITH. REAL. WORLD. MONEY. IN. MCC. GOT IT?!

I’d buy map packs, hell if 343 upped the private file limit, I’d love new Forge canvases for Reach, 4, and H2A, maybe even give Halo 3 it’s own new “Forge World”.

I don’t believe they really spent $500 million, it is only a happy lie for the fans to show how they (don’t) care about the game.

Not first time Microsoft/xbox/343 lies about sales and budgets

Edit:

Not first time Microsoft/xbox/343 lies.

Seriously.

I’d pay for a Halo 3 Map Pack of Diamondback, Skybridge, and Reactor.

I’d pay for a Halo 2 Classic Map Pack full of its unreleased maps, both pre and post release.

I’d pay for more Halo 2 Classic or Cut Halo 4 maps remade for H2A.

I’d even pay for more maps added to ODST Firefight.

I’d pay if it meant I was getting actual content that was worth the purchase, and if I knew that money was going back into MCC itself to allow for more work to be finished and expanded upon.

MCC isn’t Infinite. Please don’t do that. We have already paid for the game. And I don’t doubt if they add that eventually some items will become paid only. That’s a massive problem because that could make modding a problem. Don’t

What a way to keep that reputation lol

Just think if that 19% of bungie was 100%

Is it not strange too that the population is so low and yet this is still being introduced?

Has 343 clarified their angle/position yet? Or radio silence?

Alls I’m saying is that if microtransactions are the difference between this game being supported or not, I am in favor of them. After all the devs do need to get paid somehow, and while all of the free content they’ve added to the game has been INCREDIBLE, it is total fan service i.e. charity.

tl;dr If the microtransactions are modestly priced, don’t overlay against any existing content, and add value to the players - then it’s a no brainer. For example, I would pay for a new map pack including the remaining H:O exclusive maps and maybe some finalized cut-content from other games. Of course I’d like this for free, but realistically we can’t demand something from 343i for free. We can however demand they produce something if we are willing to pay for it.

Plus ‘microtransactions’ is fairly synonymous with ‘managed service’, and God knows MCC was a shining beacon in gaming when it was receiving support.

You had to buy the game. And you have to pay a subscription to Microsoft to play it.

There are only a few thousand people who play. Do you genuinely believe you’re going to be funding a studio based on MTX with that low of a population?

When is the last time there was a new playlist? Where is multi-team? Where are any of the very simple changes?

With the current rate of Spartan Points
micro transactions have no place in the MCC even if it means more support. It will take new players 10 months of gameplay to unlock all season items, not including exchange content. At maximum this grind should be a couple months, but it’s artificially prolonged with the piss poor flow of points. Players have been asking for the rate to be increased, and to respond to this feedback with the implementation of micro transactions is completely tone deaf.

No. There shouldn’t be a grind skip, period. Full stop. It invalidates all the hard work OTHER players have actually put in to get the armor.

To paraphrase Sgt. Johnson “You want your armor, you gotta earn it!”
