Please don't add Microtransactions to MCC

Adding my voice to this. I don’t care if they’re in a free to play game, I really really don’t.

But I SURE DO CARE A LOT IF THEY’RE IN A PREMIUM GAME. They have GOT to NOT do this, it is NOT OKAY.

I feel like all of our cries for no microtransactions will end up falling on deaf ears because 343’s decision making process doesn’t understand context. So I’ll use their exact words and add a “Do NOT” preface in front, just so that the message can be explicitly clear.

  1. Do NOT explore a potential new “feature” for the future in the form of purchasable spartan points.

Do NOT make anything purchasable with real-world money in MCC.

DO NOT PUT IN MICROTRANSACTIONS. DO YOU GET THE FREAKING MESSAGE?!

Do not put MTX’s in MCC. If you’re worried about the amount of content being “too much” for new players, give more points out for challenges/progression or allow us to unlock levels in seasons completely non-linearly

It devalues the act of earning cosmetics and unlocking stuff. But hey! we Spartan players get some Spartan transactions for our Spartan gaming. :skull:

This is an absolutely terrible idea that will ruin the little goodwill any diehard classic Halo fans still have for 343.

It took years to get MCC to the state it exists in today, where the game mostly works, has a good customs browser, and a lot of content unlockable only by playing the game. And for many of those years, they just left MCC in a broken state, without saying hardly a thing. Adding MTX after all this time, after they’ve finally done something right with MCC, is a huge slap in the face.

If they want to make SP easier to get for newer players, just remove the SP level cap like everyone’s been asking for for ages, do events that earn double SP–heck, just give a SP for playing any matchmade game or campaign level. There’s so many ways around this that could make SP easier to get that don’t require adding MTX to the game.

The only reason to add MTX to MCC is greed. Leave that nonsense in Infinite, and keep MCC as it is. Don’t botch it, too. Not again.

Agreed. If nothing else than for the principle of it, MCC should be free of micro transactions. The only things I’d be willing to pay for is proper DLC, like how ODST and Reach were released.
I do feel sorry for the game developers at 343, who I’m sure know this (and many of the decisions made with infinite’s multiplayer) is a stupid decision. I’m certain whoever is pushing for decisions like this is a business-minded CEO who doesn’t care about the Halo franchise for a second other than how much money can be made out of it, like so many games now, and it really does feel like that with the whole franchise; profit is being put above quality. Example: the release of Infinite’s multiplayer when it clearly wasn’t ready. If it had been delayed three months, I’m sure when it was released we wouldn’t have the problems we currently do with the game, but the longer the game’s out, the more money the store will make.
I would just like to reiterate that I don’t think this is the actual developers at 343’s fault, or anyone else directly building the game. I feel they get a lot of hate that they don’t deserve. After all, Halo: Infinite and MCC are gameplay-wise excellently made games, even if it isn’t to some fans’ tastes.

For the record, MCC having microtransactions is a terrible idea and you all knew that before it was implemented. What happens to the people responsible for wasting excessive amounts of development time on stuff like slipping a poison pill into MCC or removing scorpion gun from infinite as the first “fix” of any substance while the servers are a dumpster fire?

I feel like this Micheal Jordan PSA will perfectly encapsulate my personal feelings on some of the decision making processes that 343 have made.

In a time of sadness and jadedness based on relentless corporate milking, I feel like we all could learn a thing or two from this wholesome PSA. Now, I’m not naming names (343 management), but I think the people at 343 need to take some time to actually think before they make a decision.

I think once they’ve thought long and hard about their poor decisions, they’ll move forward to become better versions of themselves.

JK LOL. To quote the wise and glorious messiah Shrek “like that’ll ever happen.” But at least it’s something to cry-laugh about.

But is purchasable season points really where this all ends? Is this really the only thing they monetize? They start small because they know how much players hate it.

There’s only one possible price that I could see as being even remotely reasonable. And that’s if $5 is worth 100 “Spartan Points.” That would be enough for an entire “Season” of content. There’s 8 seasons and the base price is around $40. So $40 (base) + $40 (8 Seasons * $5 each) = $80, which would be the price of a premium game that came with DLC content with as much value as a Season pass. At the very least, it would be a much better value than the garbage that Halo Infinite is pushing out.

I would like to reiterate, I absolutely, positively do NOT want ANY microtransactions into MCC in any capacity whatsoever. This is a backup plan in case our objections fall on deaf ears, and I worry that they will.

Exactly right. I watched one of my all time favorite games descend into this dark pit years ago. It’s likely that this is just the beginning…

MCC doesn’t need Microtransaction, the point system is pretty solid and if points feel limited they can always expand or add more challenges , I mean the game is a pretty great package including firefight, multiplayer, singleplayer, forged and theater so they can always add more specific challenges to this components of the game while keeping the “generic” challenges that are currently in the game untouched.

Adding microtransactions to the MCC is going to erode what little goodwill 343i still has with the community. Full stop. There’s no other reason to add them except to line the pockets of executives and that is nakedly apparent to the Halo community and every outside audience looking into the franchise. All this is going to do is turn away new players and embitter old fans from playing the game.

Please, please rethink this decision. If not for us, then for the franchise you inherited.

Why can’t they just make new maps packs for MCC and sell those? How creatively bankrupt can they be?

I can live with them charging for new cosmetics

Preach it my fellow gamer.

It’s all about those dollar bills.
