Please don't add Microtransactions to MCC

But, I’m not surprised that 343i prioritizes raising and thinking about new ways to get our money if there are people supporting the idea in this same post. It is impressive how they have eaten our heads so that we can see well or not care if our wallets bleed.

I would only accept this if MCC becomes their main title, with ongoing, active support and new updates every 3 months. Port Infinite’s MP over at the same time, as well as add Halo 5.

Not doing that? Well, blow me, guess we have nothing to talk about.

Thinking back on it yeah it’s also like the support for MCC content it’s pretty much over there are no planned releases and if we get any content it will just drop randomly so without legitimate support it makes no sense to include a new monetization model after already saying they wouldn’t add monetization to the current system.

What they should have announced was:

  • Removed cap for the first one hundred levels
  • Increased points earned from weekly challenges
  • Expanded exchange list to include more items on rotation a week
  • Renewed support in updates for MCC (more cosmetics, per-piece customization for Reach elites, more H2A remake maps, H3A(?))
  • Increased mod support (better tools for map creation and mod tools for the rest of the games)

Unless they plan on pumping some actual support into the game I would encourage anyone to not spend any money on the already easily obtainable season points you’re only telling 343 it’s okay to charge us money for something they said they wouldn’t charge us money for.

This has been in the making since 2012… slowly but surely they are squeezing squeezing soon they’ll squeeze some more.

Reading the update just now - I skipped to the forums - full well knowing that this would be the top topic!

This company has no shame. I love how they boasted in the update what they’ve done how much they’re doing.

I don’t think Halo in 2022 meets any fan expectations. Some moan some settle some leave. If I was 343 I’d keep that radio silence a lot bloody longer!

And If I worked for 343 I’d ask for my last pay cheque while A smidgen of my soul remained.

I don’t even know why anyone would even bother asking anything from 343 at this point, especially asking them not to make matter worse for MCC being fully aware that that is what they are going to do. 343 has literally shown they have no respect for their player base, and that they are only concerned about the new players, and wanting to attract the CoD/Fortnite players.

True, it gives enough room for them to add it in later, but it could easily be assumed by people to mean as such.

It really just isn’t a good move anyways though.

if they absolutely, with no way to avoid it, must add microtransactions, they ARE ACTUALLY INCOMPETENT.

they could, oh I dunno, FINISH AND SELL THE REMAINING HALO ONLINE MAPS FOR HALO 3 AS A MAP PACK or better yet: REMASTER AND SELL THE REST OF THE HALO 2 MAPS FOR H2A MULTIPLAYER AS A MAP PACK

the actual common sense decisions that this company could be making if they need income so badly, and instead it’s “haha look at these wild n’ wacky fractures guys, gotta spend fast ye?! now spend money it’s just cosmeticos my dudes! not like we as the company who can adjust SP gains could just increase the SP gains so that it isn’t a grind.”

i don’t like micro transactions and i’ve loved the mcc for not having it. here’s my take: this is the best case scenario for IF they add micro transactions. it’s nit pay to win, and it’s ONE option for allowing people to earn cosmetics faster. i think it could certainly be worse. plus, it’s just paying for the season points, not for actual armor. so there’s nothing is locked behind a paywall.

that being said, there are better ways for going about allowing people to earn content quicker. allow for more ways to earn season points, such as more challenges per week. it’s too late to change the leveling system rewards, but i’m sure there’s other ways people could earn season points without having to spend money

Map packs would just split the population even more in an already low pop game.

I can almost guarantee you that this is a management decision that someone has been trying their best to fight, and is now being forced on them. I imagine the conversation went something like,

Out-of-Touch 343 Manager: You should add micros to MCC, you keep adding new content to it but we’re not making a lot of money in return
Dev: Players will hate that, we already burned a lot of good will.
Out-of-Touch: Well, you can either find a way to add them to make up for poor performance on Halo Infinite, or I can sack you and promote someone else to do it for me.

100% percent. Do NOT add microtransactions to MCC.

Just look at how it -Yoink!-ed up infinite.

oh 100%, it’s likely the same situation as what potentially happened to seasons 8, 9, and 10 (where the latter 2 were possibly consolidated into 8, and all of the non fracture content for 8 got tossed out or released during the 20th anniversary “special event”)

eh, that’s why H2A would make the most sense, its lacking in enough players and content that most people would buy it as if it’s the game itself like ODST or Reach.

Halo 3 and ODST though are a worst case scenario, they do have quite a few more unfinished maps from H:O, 8 in total (including Reactor Skybridge and Diamondback), so getting all of them guaranteed might work if Microsoft Game $tudios smells a profit.

Seriously all 343 has to do is make map packs, that are like 10$ a pack and they’ll make bank, even with bad maps.

Microtransactions were NEVER a necessity for AAA games and never will be.

Better to have a split community than no community. Microtransactions kill games, map packs don’t.

I guarantee you, the least popular game will have the least popular amount of map pack purchasers. Given that we’ve received all previous maps for free it would be asinine to start charging separately especially given that they wouldn’t even show up in MM because one player in the lobby didn’t spring for it. In the grand scheme the current proposed system is the least intrusive from my perspective.

As soon as I read that line in the blog I came straight here.

Suffice to say I won’t be buying anything from MCC. I play that less than Infinite and I don’t play Infinite anymore. I’ll come back when the events next come back.

Still play MCC in part because the lack of microtransactions. Now 343 is going to go back on their word AGAIN?!?!

Totally agree…MCC should not have any form of MT. It’s already bad enough that Infinite live service has killed that game and made it awful and splintered the fanbase population. I’ve supported dlc’s before but pushing MT into BP makes things so much worse. If they think this is a good idea then they will have learned nothing from the Infinite disaster.
