Spoilers ahead: So at the end of the game The weapon picks a name for herself and though it is never said they pretty much imply she has chosen the name Cortana. Please don’t call her that she may be a Copy but she’s has her own personality she is not the Cortana we know so please give the Weapon a different name please do not call her Cortana

Sadly they probably will, and for some reason no one will question or be unnerved by an AI that looks and has the name as an AI that tried to enslave the galaxy is suddenly helping them.

I would never understand why people think she choose to name herself Cortana, nothing imply that. She said she find the perfect name, nothing to do with Cortana. She would maybe name herself “resurection” for as far as we know.
And if 343 chose to don’t reveal her name, it’s surely to check our comment, so no chance she will be ever name like that

They implied it’s the name she chose because she asked the master chief if it would be ok

I agree with Steve Downes. They probably left the name un-named to see what fans thought about it before making a decision.
I personally wouldn’t mind her being called Cortana. Then I can pretend the evil-Cortana plot never happened lol.

100% agree with this. I get she has a different personality, but so what? She’s still technically Cortana. I can’t really think of any other name I would want her to go by. Maybe Jen, just to honor the amazing work the VA has done over the years, including media outside the games, but that’s probably the only other name I would like.

She’s totally not Cortana ! Same brain from Halsey, so same birth, but totally different personnality and experience of live, two important thing in someone identity. They are like twin, but they are totally different character

And calling her Cortana would be totally confusion for everybody. Cortana was already so much abused by 343 who turned her as a villain, giving her name to the weapon would be the ultimate act of disrespect

I think a lot of people assume the name Cortana was chosen is because of the way its framed. It feels like the viewer is supposed to already know her choice.

Otherwise she’s randomly going to pick a different one off screen, awkwardly at the start of part 2, or part of part 2 will be her musing over what her new name should be.
