Aside from how the population is counted, the way its counted in Halo 4 showed that 450K people were playing the first week. Now the population is barely at 100K. No matter how you count population, the numbers show a huge drop in online population.
What you make of that is your own business, some people aren’t worried about online population and that’s fine. I think for a game like Halo 4 and how much money was sunk into it that the fact that a game like BOps II continues to dominate it in terms of online players is pathetic.
If people liked the game, they’d play it, as they do Black Ops II. Say what you will about COD, but it has managed to maintain a pretty steady online population, the same cannot be said for Halo 4.
