Please do something about the wasps on deadlock

I can’t stand the wasps on deadlock. It happens way too much where one team gains control of both wasps and then one team is just trapped in their base for the entire match. It’s way to easy to get to one teams base undetected so one person always camps at the other teams wasp respawn

This has always been true of any Halo. I remember the days of Halo 3 Sandtrap CTF. Stealing the enemy team’s Elephant so you could quick cap.

This is true of any air vehicles on any map. For some reason they decided to give the Wasp and Banshee shields in this game. That combined with them being extreamly powerful means that they are able to take on 3 or 4 people by themselves and then hide to Regen shields, essentially giving no progress on damage. The only real way to kill them consistently is with a power weapon, and that kind of balance heavily skews in the favor of the vehicle.

This is especially true of the Banshee. The way that it’s balanced, and the way that it is able to completely lockdown a team is ridiculous. The Fuel Rod bombs and plasma cannons are both the most powerful they’ve ever been. In a 1v1 encounter it’s impossible to really do anything, and it’s a huge reason why I avoid BTB. Why does there have to be a Banshee in every map?

Tell me about it. Even the default Banshee can unleash utter hell on the other team. You can hardly retaliate, and yet you get blown up as if the pilot has x-ray vision.

The only way they could make it fair is if made it impossible for the enemy team from getting their hands on it. I agree this issue needs to be fixed, people end up quitting out, making it more of a misery for those who stay and fight.

I don’t really see much problem with it. You’re given plenty of tools and opportunists to take it out. There’s a Hydra just outside the top exit and a Plasma Pistol in the side exit. Even if you can’t get to either of those you can just shoot it with a BR; Wasps armor is really weak.

My problem with power weapons in general (I’m including vehicles as power weapons, that’s the way 343i have balanced them) is that they are treated as though the act of picking it up means that you deserve to be powerful. They have removed most if not all skill from the power weapons. This is true of vehicles as well. I remember the Halo 3 days where, with proper movement, you were able to counter ghosts. Now that’s basically impossible. They kill you too fast. You die before you even realise they’re there. This kind of balance creates a snowball effect, where you can’t do anything because your opponent has weapon x. Snipers no longer take any skill to use. Rockets and other similar weapons have massive splash damage areas. You just have to look at how 343i places them. There are usually only 2 or 3 power weapons on a map, that spawn in at different times so there is very little overlap. Halo 3 on the other hand, let’s use the pit as an example, had two snipers, Rockets, a sword, Brite shots, and shotties.

It feels like 343i want games to be one sided blow outs with how they balanced the game.

I understand they have weapons to counter it, but say both teams have each wasp. Ther person with the plasma pistol can only focus on one of the wasps, so the other wasp can fly and kill him/her. Then the plasma pistol is pretty much useless until it respawns since it is wide open in the field on the ground.

The hydra is good to counter but its location makes it damn near impossible to get if a wasp is hovering over your base. If they were to put the hydra in a different location inside the base then it would at least allow a better chance to counter the wasps since it would respawn there and another player could grab the plasma pistol.

I’ve found the Wasp is only an issue on that map if you have unbalanced skill matching. With more balanced teams, the Wasp usually doesn’t last very long with all the counters on the map, but that being said, I’m not a fan of the Wasp being on most of the maps in general.

There’s also a plasma pistol on the top front of the base, 2 rocket launchers that lock on to the wasps, and a laser. It’s really easy to take them out.

The Wasps don’t bother me so much.

The Banshees on Estuary, though… Damn Nigh Impossible to take down

You also have the Laser in the middle of the map with the Rocket Launcher on the sides of the maps too. And the turret chaingun on the top of your base as well.

Try using the cloak on the map as a way to make it to rocket launchers, spartan lasers, and hydras. After you’ve obtained these weapons, those pesky wasps won’t bother you anymore.

Yeah, at least we don’t have to worry about that anymore.

The biggest issue of mine is the banshee evade options. It makes the vehicle way too overpowered. I have joined countless games on sandtrap where the banshee is forcing our entire team to stay inside a base and get spawn killed repeatedly…

Teamshot =/= a good form of balance. For it to be used effectively, you have to be in a party, which most players (From what I can see) are not in one. And yes, these wasp killing tools are outside of the base, but what about inside of it, where you have more cover to effectively counter the wasps/banshee? Sure, we have a plasma pistol as a soft counter, but that goes back to the problem of being able to kill it effectively, which (unless you’re able to get a good line of sight on the weakpoints, or unless you can hijack it) is near dam impossible to do on your own.

Nokyard mentioned on Gaf that the Wasp was gonna be removed on Deadlock in objective gametypes so there’s one positive.

I totally get they have weapoms to take them down, but when both teams occupy the wasps you can’t even leave the base to get to any of them

I’ve come to the conclusion last night that I hate the Wasp. It’s just so damn annoying. You can’t hide from it because of the hover ability unless you get in a building, it’s very difficult to escape from because it’s an air vehicle and the hover ability, and you can’t board it unless the pilot is an idiot. I don’t care if it’s a light armored vehicle either. You’re gonna die multiple times trying to take one down by yourself with basic weapons if you can’t get to any decent counters or no one is team shooting it.

I think you severely over estimate the wasps shield. It drops after ~2 BR bursts to an engine. If you and 3 of your team mates can’t take out a wasp ,then that means everyone is waiting on their team mates to take it down, and no one is actively shooting it.

If you and your team can make the Wasp your priority target, they’ll drop pretty quick. Sometimes it just takes one person on a mic saying “Everyone shoot the Wasp!” To get the Wasp down. When that happens it normally drops within 30 seconds.

Just my two cents
