please create a "shame rank" for team killers

I know that team killing happens at times and it is purely accidental.

However, the true team killers:
These are the kinds of grief players I have run across:

  1. Destroy a vehicle with a teammate inside bc they wanted that vehicle. Teammate inside vehice may not die, still, vehicle is lost. Also, enemy attention probably alerted to that area.

  2. I pick up sniper rifle (we are playing BTB) so now angry teammate who also wanted sniper rifle but did not get it- keeps jumping in my scope view, I move he follows, jumps again, gets in front of me and starts shooting at me (not fast either, but slow, to attract enemies on radar) - can’t kill me so decides to draw enemy attention, after he gets tired of doing that or just gets killed respawns and jumps on warthog, tries to run me over if not - uses turret to keep blasting at me. His sole purpose is to make my experience horrible. I don’t want to quit game bc of him why should I?

There should be some kind of punishment for people like this.

Dear 343,
I hope that you guys create some kind of shame badge or shame rank that shows on players card along with his SR before we enter a game. This will alert everyone else what kind of person this is and so we can be more careful when around him.

Different kinds of shame/badges ranks:

  1. Team Killing
  2. Team Distraction: Purposely jumping up and down or standing in front of your scope/view, purposely following you around to then stand in your way - and you get killed by all his distractions.

To remedy the “what about accidental” team killing. There should be a limit as to how many accidental kills are allowed before you start ranking up in shame rank. This limit of how many accidental kills are allowed should not be reset to restart counting until at least 2 months have passed without killing or distracting a teammate.

Also, as these “griefers” rank up in shame there should be demotions in they’re spartan rank as well. These kinds of people should not be allowed to enjoy level 50 rank specialization goodies. The more the rank shame, the more they decrease in good spartan rank.

I have voluntary information. I myself am guilty for team killing as well only because they started killing me - so I started killing back. Would there had been some kind of awareness before I entered that game of team slayer that I had 2 guys on my squad whom would eventually go around and TK - I would had avoided them by clicking on they’re profiles before I entered the game, then politely backed out and jump into a new game.

Please don’t let these kinds of people ruin a great game 343i. You guys have masterpiece here please tame & control your bad apples. Thanks.

Accidental post

Agreed.

Thanks.

I am surprised others have not stopped by here and supported this idea. Seems like a reasonable/potential way to help alleviate and free us from these low lives.

I think 343 should just re-enable team killing so that you can boot them if they do kill you.

That works too. I was looking for something more permanent like a title to shame them and hopefully get them to convert into productive citizens. Lol. J/k

But yea that works too I guess.

There are people out there that would be prod to wear that mark sadly.

Edit: I’m a driver primarily, sometimes my teammates get in the way before I can react, this system could negatively impact someone such as myself through no fault of my own.

The betrayal booting system supposed to solve this problem.

What I don’t understand is why betrayers aren’t immediately booted from the game without question now that there’s a join-in-progress system in place.

I hate to tell you, but I team kill ALOT because idiot team members don’t know how to stay away from Wrath/Tank/Rocket’s

^Yea I hear you. Idiots do exist.

I guess the booting system would be the wise system. Hopefully it can recognize this immature behavior sooner and boot them ASAP not wait until they’ve pillaged every vehicle and killed every team member.

i accidentally killed our own hog with a wraith…it happens i dont think there is a good way to prove it wasnt an accident. just good ole boot system whenever a teammate kills you and hope he doesnt boot you for an accident.

> I hate to tell you, but I team kill ALOT because idiot team members don’t know how to stay away from Wrath/Tank/Rocket’s

Maybe you should be more careful with your Wraith/Tank/Rockets.

Well, maybe you are careful, but there are so many that aren’t.Today I was assassinating someone (A real achievement for me since it rarely happens) and some -Yoink!- in a mantis shot a rocket at me and stole my kill.Surprisingly I didn’t die,but if I did and had gotten the option,I would’ve booted him.

I find the boot option doesn’t come up enough.I’ve been betrayed a few times, and the only time I’ve gotten the option to boot someone was when a team mate splattered me with a Ghost. That instance was entirely my own fault though since I was being a derp and walked in front of him.I didn’t boot him of course since that would’ve made me a jerk.

And I agree with OP 100%.There is not enough punishment for team killers.

I deeply concur! In my opinion you could even take away some of their exp!
Just because someone didn’t get the Banshee or whatever, doesn’t give him the right to shoot you in the back!

Second this, but add the hog, ghost, and even goose. People will just walk right out in front of them and then get mad they died. Would be mad if a car hit you for walking out in front of it on the highway?

Badges of shame, deranking, taking XP away, taking armor pieces away… None of these things will do anything to stop the intentional TKers because they don’t give a damn about any of that stuff. Their goal in the game, their enjoyment, is defined solely by the misery they can inflict on others. The only way to stop them is to take away their fun and disable all aspects of friendly fire completely: weapons from your team won’t damage your vehicles, EMP blasts won’t shut you down, getting run over won’t kill you, etc, etc…

Yes, it’ll dumb the game way down and encourage sloppy play by not checking your field of fire before you pull the trigger, but I’m convinced this is the only way to stop these godforsaken trolls.

I love Heavies, but after nearly every game, I have to go submit a player review for TKing in the hope that I won’t be paired with at least one player from this team ever again. Accidents are easy to spot, but most of these…

Game starts, guy runs and jumps in the tank or rocket hog, and immediately opens fire on the rest of us? Yeah, not an accident.

Guy follows my mantis around EMPing me after every step? Not an accident.

Two chuckleheads in a Gauss Hog follow my mantis or scorpion around shooting me in the back until I explode? Not an accident.

We spawn, guy sticks a plasma grenade to the back of my head in the first ten seconds just to take my light rifle off my corpse? Not an accident.

I’m kneeling down with my DMR, shooting a clueless enemy in the head at range when one of my team comes along and melees me to death from behind and teabags my corpse mid-game? Yeah, not an accident.

Nothing short of completely disabling friendly fire will stop people like this. The saddest thing about this game is that I’ve had several matches where my own bloody team killed me more times than the enemy team did. That shouldn’t happen, ever.

If you look on halotracker you will see that there is a players who has over 150,000 betrayals. You would have to question why he/she was allowed to keep playing h4 for so long, must of been a real asset to teams he/she played in, what a loser.

In an ideal world, this would work.
However, making a flawless system based around this idea is really hard to set up and make fair.

I hope this could be possible one day!
