It’s such a good idea to help achieve more casual games! Not to mention you don’t go as negative when your team gets worked over so the losses don’t feel as heavy.
I like the idea of 5v5 for social game modes. 4v4 will still be there for the people who want it, but sometimes I don’t want to get dumpstered on and just want to relax and enjoy a less sweaty experience.
Yeah I don’t know why but Halo 3 social always seemed way more relaxed than H5 social. Maybe it is just population but I know they use different background mm systems so maybe it is a bit of that too.

I think 3 Vs 3 Vs 3 would make a great playlist especially for those without a full team. I used to play a bunch of 3 Vs 3 ranked matches as we used to search as a 3 and back out if it found a random before the game locked in as we never really had a consistent 4th for ranked.
Multi-team is one of my favourite playlists too. I like the custom MM browser in MCC, but I do think it limits the MM potential a bit. I’d prefer to have selectable playlists again and have them as clear options so people can play 2 Vs 2 Vs 2 Vs 2 if they want. It was a corker in Halo 3 and one of my preferred playlists to play with my social friends. Sometimes we would search it as a 3 or 4 as well. Very fun!

Not necessarily.
You could still have one colour for friends… and one colour for enemies. Just that now there are six enemies spread over two teams.
If you really need to know which enemy team you are engaging you could have two different shades of the same colour.
But we’re talking social here. It doesn’t matter. You just need to know they are not on your team and start shooting.

It didn’t really happen in the flight but having a gamertag or service tag above the player is very helpful to track who you’re fighting. As you said could have alternative outlines, we already have one to distinguish party members.

5 Vs 5 wouldn’t be out of place on any of them, especially Bazaar as the largest of the 3.
Halo 3 used a bunch of maps in 2vs2, 4vs4 and 5vs5. These maps I’d say are similar. I could totally see Live Fire and Recharge in doubles, but they have decent size to accommodate 10 players if needed.

Social slayer and social skirmish (objective) was yeah. There was no team limit either so you could join a game with 6 players and it would split you across the two teams, usually 1 guy being left on the opposite team by himself. I always found H3 social hilarious with friends.
Some of the other social slayer playlists like Team Mythic (dlc maps) was 4 Vs 4.
