I get it — nobody likes quitters, and hopefully you won’t see this as just another “why am I banned?!” post where we all shame the OP for being a filthy quitter (because I am not). With that being said, I feel the need to say: 343, please stop banning me for quitting one match.
Tonight my group of friends and I got together to play Infection. We all have crazy work schedules so it’s hard to get everyone together. I had to quit a game to reset my router because my internet was being stupid. So understand my frustration when after having to deal with Century Link’s BS, I come back to see “THE BANHAMMER STRIKES” across my screen accompanied with a lovely 20 minute ban.
Some of you may be thinking “well, it’s only 20 minutes”. But that’s like two full games! I don’t have all night. It may not seem like much, but to me 20 minutes is an inconvenience. I quit one match of Infection and I’m being treated like I’m a bad player. Look at my game history and you’ll see 1 DNF in the last 48 hours.
So rather than playing with my friends I’ve spent the duration of my ban typing up this thread asking you to please loosen up the Banhammer just a tiny bit. There’s got to be some sort of middle-ground. I rarely ever quit matches and when I do I am either disconnected or it’s on a social playlist (i.e. Infection or Warzone Firefight) yet I’m meeting the same restrictions as I would for quitting a match of Breakout or Team Arena.
Or don’t change it. Either way I’m screwed because of my internet. I think I’ll write Century Link a letter.
Thanks for reading.
Same thing happened to me in a ranked arena game. I was dropped from game in middle of an awesome game then was banned for 20 mins. Second time it’s happened this week I hope they fix it is very frustrating to be banned Fire halo 5 server issues
I agree with you 343 doesn’t understand that technology doesn’t always work the way you want. They said that it goes by a pattern and can tell if you lag out or not. They don’t realize sometimes you disconnect a lot of h5 crashes or Xbox power goes out they all have different effects. They need to go to a 10 minute ban like reach did and make quitters play with quitters
Hi I’m The ban thread please feed me.

Hi ban thread. I made this post to inspire change in the current Banhammer system. I don’t need more information as to what/why/how long I was banned for, but thank you.

I guess my downfall was that I quit the game BEFORE turning off my router. Had I just unplugged my internet without quitting would I have not been banned? Judging from the ban thread it’s a possibility.

I’ll amit this is the best response someone’s given me to that. And I’ve been doing that since the ban thread was made.

I knew the comment was coming. I’ve seen enough of the usual ban threads. =P

Actually, in the passed 168 hours (7 days, so a week) you’ve accumulated 11 DNF’s. Some are even grouped together so you’ve quit one game and then quit the next game. Or got disconnected, it’s all the same really.
And I imagine you may be thinking “so what? I’ve only quit once or twice in the passed two days”
the system doesnt care. It looks for patterns throughout your entire history and you’ve set off enough alarms to get a ban.
If you’re having internet issue, take a break from gaming and figure out what’s wrong with your modem/router/provider.

I’ve found the problem! Solution is… don’t quit. And as others have said, use the ban thread, ban related stuff goes there.

I’ve only quit once in the past two days, with multiple finished matches in between. 11 DNFs sounds like a lot, but I easily spent 30+ hours playing Halo in the last 7 days because of Warzone Firefight and the free week. So when comparing that to how many I actually finished I’m not surprised.
I’ll disconnect from a game every 8 or so games (just a guess), and I’m not going to lie and say none of those were actual quits because some of them were. But I am using what is considered the “best” ISP in the area and I still get constantly disconnected. I can only imagine what kind of pain other people have to go through.

Did you even bother to read the rest of the post?
So from what I understand the system doesn’t look at time between sessions. It only looks for patterns between finished and unfinished games. In my case: because I have two DNFs from a few days ago and I did not play Arena since then, it still treats them like they are recent offenses. I also suspect that Warzone and Arena are monitored separately.
So to me it appears like the system has gone completely bonkers because in the last 48 hours I’ve played 7 games and only quit 1, which is hardly deserving of a ban. However, to the system I might as well have played 9 and quit 3 because it doesn’t care about the “time between” the games. Anyway, that’s my theory.
If this is right —and if it were up to me— I would change the system to forgive DNFs over extended periods of time.
Any thoughts?
Kinda sucks bec sometimes I have to leave the game ( but I dont get banned ) Then I play other game that on the last sec appear that my connection was lost, so I get banned
Hey Man I understand your frustration and Im there with you.
My “best” example is when the game kicked me from a Plaza slayer match which we the second I got kicked won 50-49. When I then arrive at the title menu, I get the “fireteam has changed” message and then I press okay head into arena again and BAM! 3 hours ban for the game kicking me.

Well I got banned for 7 hours…
Threads like these ultimately end up with people complaining about their bans, which should he addresses in the ban thread
