And banshee in general. Holy crap is it BAD. The banshee can’t do a frontal flip (for some reason) and the bomb doesn’t even one -Yoink!-…whats the point in that?
I think both the chopper and the banshee mainly need work. What doesn’t help especially with the banshee the doomsday mechanic as cool as it is, it really affects how much damage vehicles are able to take compared to other games and not in a good way. Both the chopper and banshee unless I’m on a mission to splatter people I pretty much don’t have a reason to use them as they just suck as of right now.
All vehicles have been nerfed in Halo Infinite, bolstering and incentivizing on-the-ground play rather than vehicle play.
Every vehicle has less health.
Some of their guns are weaker and do far less damage.
And even the Big-Team-Battle maps are vehicle unfriendly, with driving now restricted to arbitrary roads instead of the more open terrain.
Expect to see weapon/vechicle tuning in season 4 or something. See you all over 5 years
It’s pretty weak on smaller maps but on big team a good Banshee or Wasp driver can be super annoying to deal with.
Easy if your team is gifted the Shock Rifle, not quite as easy if you have the Stalker Rifle.
They should buff the Banshee bomb, but they should also consider changing the Banshee’s construction material from cardboard to metal.
Scraping the ground realistically wouldn’t kill it.

The only vehicle in the game that feels good is the ghost IMO.
- The warthog drives like a paperweight toy and dies far too easily.
- The Banshee just flies around tickling enemy players until it spontaneously self-destructs in shame for being so bad.
- The Wasp is an overpowered immortal death dealing machine in the hands of anyone half-decent.
- The chopper was designed and balanced by someone who never heard of or played Halo 3.
- The Scorpion controls like we’re back in 1996 and developers are trying to figure out what to do with an analogue stick on a controller for the first time.
The entire vehicle sandbox needs a strong balance pass/overhaul.
Vehicles are mostly useless in this game. Except the warthog which is basically just a stationary turret. And the scorpion which is seldom seen.

It is annoying that you can easily get one--Yoink!- with skewer and also almost instantly killed with shock carbine and sniper rifle.
This. Especially on Launch Pad with invisible walls colliding with which can kill you very fast if you don’t know what you’re doing.
I must say though that you can do much damage in Banshee if you know how to do it and cooperate with your team. It isn’t easy though because you can die too easily. Need to do a lot of chaotic maneuvering not to get -Yoink!- down too fast. I think banshee weapons are way too underpowered in comparison to its low toughness. If you get an aerial vehicle with toughness of an egg, it’d better have a huge hammer installed to smash enemies before getting inevitably destroyed.
Still if you work well with your ground team you can give them a lot of easy kills stripping enemy shields with bombs. Or just do a bomb + machinegun finish combo.
Wasp on the other hand can do a lot of damage if used properly. In BTB a team that steals enemy Wasp and has 2 vs 0 aerial advantage pretty much wins every match in which I saw it happen.
However you need a good pilot for any craft - I had some matches in which I -Yoink!- down 3-4 enemy aircraft while sitting in a single Wasp, destroying other vehicles in between, pretty much denying enemy any mobility and helping either defending own base or attacking theirs depending on situation…
The doomsday mechanic is when a vehicle gets damaged enough that it glows red for a few seconds before exploding.
Ah, I didn’t know it’s called that. I don’t mind that mechanic as it gives you a bit of time to decide if you want to get off and try to save yourself from the blast, or sacrifice yourself by shooting a few last blasts. Also if you do enough damage over the threshold the vehicle blows up instantly.
I like that they’re trying to make the plasma cannons part of the use of the vehicle, doing some damage then finishing them off with the fuel rod, but I think the plasma cannons need to be better and the way the banshee controls makes it really hard to kill targets. If the weapons allowed for faster strafing runs it’d be less of an issue.
Not the warthog, lol. That gun is a MENACE.

They pushed it into a more literal hit and run style of play. The banshee bomb doesn’t one shot anymore but if you hit someone it will knock them into the air so you can easily splat them.
Not as strong but once you’re use to it you can wreak havoc on the enemy team.

Regular Warthog yes, but the Rocket Hog has had a fire-rate and damage-per-missile nerf.
