Dear 343I,
dear community members,

first of all I want to congratulate 343i to the overall redesign of the “new” Waypoint. It looks better, it feels better and it is easier to access and use. Thank you for that, that was really good work.

However, as a Halo achievement hunter and completionist, I have to say that I am really disappointed to see that the Waypoint career is gone and Milestones with it.

Now, I know that internally in 343i there have surely been discussions about that and that this decision has probably not been made thoughtlessly. Because of that I also know, that a thread like this will not magically and instantly make the Career and the Milestones come back, but I do believe that if enough people in the community join in and express their wishes to remake an overall progress aspect within the Waypoint system, then maybe 343i will consider bringing such an “overall progress aspect” back.

You see, I really, really liked the idea of career milestones and the career itself. I remember that I was really happy when it was announced back in the days and could not wait for it. To me, it just adds additional value to my Halo gaming expierence and my Halo achievement hunting expierence.

Instead of getting rid of it, I would have loved to see “Career/Milestones” to become even more prominent features, with bonuses (such as in-game emblems or forum avatars) for people who have reached certain milestones or even have maxed out the career by getting all Halo achievements availiable.

It is true, that I still can see the achievements which I have obtained in my profile, as well as an “overall gamerscore”, but for me this is just not the same thing like having a detailed overall progess indicator, like the milestones have been.

To conclude: Dear 343i, please bring back a more integrated overall progress indicator, like for example the milestones have been. Also, a kind of achievement trophy hall would be extremely nice, meaning a part of the profile where one can see all the Halo achievements he/she has obtained on one integrated page.

Dear fellow community members, I would love to hear your opinion on this. And of course, I would be extremely happy if some other people have the same opinion on this. Maybe one day we will get our overall progress indicators back!

I already had mentioned this in a previous post yesterday. It is now called Halo Gamerscore and I’m sure that they will give an in-game incentive for players with a score over a certain margin.

I will miss the game spanning awards but I can see how those were hard to update with new releases without throwing them off balance. Halo 4 achievements weren’t integrated into any of the awards and eventually the awards would become rooted to the older titles.

But still I think that “Gamerscore” alone is just not good enough on its own. To me that just does not really reflect all the effort and time that went into getting all that achievements and I really, really hope that 343i will find a better way to make all the Halo achievement hunters out there happy.

As I said, some kind of “achievement trophy hall” (see my opening post) would be really cool and satisfying.

I like this idea as well.

I too was disappointed at the loss of Waypoint career systems, because it was just another little incentive to keep going, but Bungie didn’t make it appeasing enough. Hopefully, with enough supporters, 343 Industries will revamp Waypoint careers and have better incentives.

Question then, the avatar awards and armor unlocks in 4 that were linked to milestone score - are they forever locked now?

Not asking cause I was ever planning to one day go back and get them, just curious.

I’m so glad other people feel the same way as me about this. OP, you nailed it and you have great ideas.

It’s a bummer for me because I am absolutely NOT an achievement hunter (in general) and never have been. I enjoy playing games online or going for high scores and moving to the next thing.

HOWEVER…

I love Halo and have played them all to death. I had a lot of the achievements (both online and offline, and vid master stuff) naturally because I love the game. When I discovered Halo Waypoint Career I was in heaven. It said I had X / 461 and I KNEW I had to get them all. I loved the total kills, total deaths, milestone level, enemies killed, etc. The cool ‘progressive’ overarching stats that just add to the experience.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t already love Halo. I had already read most the books and played all the games, but it just was the icing on the cake.

I did end up with 461/461 coming into MCC. I couldn’t wait for MCC to drop. As soon as I saw the new website I was truly disappointed but figured 343 was just taking its time to make it even better (or at least port it over). I’m getting a bit worried that it could have forgotten it all together.

PS: MS has some skin in the game too. I hate to admit it, but this is what MS sold me that I would NOT have otherwise purchased strictly because of Halo Waypoint bringing together the ‘overall experience’ / thrill of the hunt for me. SA x 3, Windows 8 ($120, was just fine with 7) & a Windows phone (still use iPhone but did buy a Windows phone to use on Wifi).

So if nothing else, this simple addition makes suckers like me give you more money (:

Yes, they are forever locked, unless 343 unlocks them for everyone or they bring back the milestones.
