The Halo 3 magnum isn’t a good weapon IMO. It’s fire rate is slow, it’s inaccurate, and has no scope. It’s only useful while dual wielding it with the plasma pistol.

One reason is that a gun that can be used at multiple ranges requires the user to have the knowledge of what to do in different situations.
In Reach, the DMR functions at pretty much every range. A good player knows that you don’t want your reticle to get larger than the target, so they change their rate of fire depending on the range of the encounter. The Assault Rifle can only be used at close range, so there’s less variety in how you can use it. There’s only so much a player can do with an AR, unlike the DMR.

What are you talking about? It is a very good weapon if you use it properly and have skill along with the ability to think. It can kill an AR faster than it can kill you if you are accurate. It can 4-shot a BR faster than he can to you if you are good and dual wield another Magnum. It can 3-shot people while dual wielded with an SMG, Spiker, or Plasma Rifle. Plus it is good for picking off targets at longer distances that your AR isn’t very effective at. You just need to be skilled and smart.

True, but I usually end up at close range with my opponent. So I’ll pump a few shots into him with my pistol, an finish them off with my AR, but most of the time I swap my pistol out for something else.
I respect that you like the weapon, and it may work for you, but for me personally, I don’t like it.

*It’s incredibly SHOCKING to me that people are STILL getting bent outta shape that it was a PISTOL in Halo 1 that was used for that role… Slap a RIFLE skin on it and you same fools wouldn’t be complaining ;*
The Pistol in Halo 1 fulfilled a Rifle’s role in the sandbox because there were NO medium ranged weapons… Get over it people, it was a Rifle with a Pistol skin on it.

If you personally don’t like it, I can understand that. Opinions and saying something isn’t useful are two different things. Though personal use is a different story.

Calling the H3 Magnum useless makes no sense. Useless to your personal play-style or preference is fine, but don’t try to tell me it is useless. I’ve gotten so much use out of that weapon.
