It’s a pistol. It works great on its own too. You mainly pick it up for dual wielding.

thats why the pistol should stop being dual wieldable and be as much of a utility weapon as the rifles, minus the clip size so it is still a sidearm
is it a good weapon? yes? no? the answer is irrelevant, none are fact, what any given player thinks is a good weapon depends on personal play style, it may be a good weapon to some, but to others its not,
some players don’t care about pistols, not that they cant use it, just that they don’t care for it, some people wont even use a good weapon just based on how it feels/sounds
its all based on preference,
me? well while it can be a good weapon, i simply don’t care for it, it doesn’t fit my play style, so i don use it,
In short
is the pistol a good weapon? yes, do i have to like it/use it? no, should it be underestimated? no.

It’s cool that you guys love the Halo 3’s magnum, no one will condemn you for liking the damn gun or even for wanting it back for H4, but it’s clear that the majority of the community doesn’t want it back because we believe it is an awful, AWFUL gun. Either way, pleading for its return is pointless because every Halo game has utilized a different pistol and Halo 4 should do the same. We all have differing opinions, simple as that, this thread has made this quite clear. But this thread has gone on for too long, it’s time for it to stop taking space from the first page in this H4 section.

I just stonewalled your arguments up until this point, some of which were based on what you say rather than what is. You either make more counterarguments that debunk my counter arguments, or you concede. You don’t just say “Welp, looks like this guy is just going to keep taking out my arguments, so I might as well ignore it,” then pretend the counterpoints aren’t there. If you do that, then 343i, or any developer for that matter, shouldn’t listen to you if you can’t back up and keep backing up your points, because then your proposal is merely something you wish for rather than something that legitimately makes sense to have within the confines of the matter (i.e. the direction 343i is going with Halo 4).

Why? Why, beyond “it’s just a Pistol” does it not make sense to have that 3rd utility weapon that hearkens back to the first game having both something that can help balance out the game easier and something that responds to the good old-fashioned nostalgia that players have from playing the game that started the entire series?

We all know what’s going to happen anyways. The weapons are going to be ignored, people are going to complain that there’s no weapon “variety” and more redundant weapons are going to be added to appease that part of the player base.
