Please bring back the Halo 2 shield bar

I think that Halo 2 had the best shield bar. One Reason is its on top of the radar. That is good for alot of reasons because you only have to look at the bottom corner to see the radar and health at the same time. It was also alot smaller it took up way less screen space and was so much easier to see health levels at a quick glance or out of the corner of your eye.

Yeah, I agree. I hate the giant shield bar at the top in Halo 3 and Reach.

I would actually like the one from CE back.

I agree, I love the health bar, but I also like having the shield bar on top of the radar.
I think they should set up a HUD that lets us customize our HUD, like which health/shield bar set up we have, and where it sits, that way every one can be happy.

customizable HUD awesome idea you should make a forum lol. Give us color choices too.

I think that it should stay relatively similar to the Halo 3 health bar.

Reach has the best visual shield. It was high and in the center, when depleting it would degrade from the edges towards the middle. Much easier to notice and judge the length, plus it was in an area by itself and didn’t share the space with anything.

In Halo 3 it would deplete from the left, you would naturally look to the left and towards the right to see how much was remaining. Usually you wouldn’t even notice how much was left until you ran out and it started blinking.

Halo 2 wasn’t even noticeable at first. For a brief moment I thought the game had hidden the shields and you have to go by sound. It shares the space with the radar and together they can distract from one another. It was also smaller, curved and harder to judge the remaining energy.

Halo 1 was similar to Reach (and current games). It was up on the right and would deplete from left to right. This was a better idea, but you would mainly only notice when your health starts to get damaged due to the changing colours.

This “upgrade” in visuals doesn’t just apply to Halo. In Elder Scrolls your health, magic and stamina was on the bottom left, it was much harder to judge how much was remaining (especailly due to the size). This was all improved with Skyrim. Your health was in the center and would deplete from the sides, magic was on the left and would deplete from the right, and stamina was on the right and would deplete from the left. Since health is the most important part out of the 3 it sits in the middle and is the most obvious. Magic and stamina were also important but only when you were using them, so you would only notice when you needed to determine how much was remaining.

shield bar? is this a joke, or are you really complaining about the shield bar?

if this isn’t a joke, 343i deserves better fans…

Should I make a forum… NO, I have no need for a forum. As for a thread, I’ll think about it, it was an idea I was playing with when I posted that. Also, in the past in other threads I have pointed out the idea for custom color changing, Crysis 1 had it, tho it was limited, it was awesome.

actually i like more the shield bar being big and in thee center like in Halo 3 and Reach, also i like the “WARNING” sign in Reach, nice detail

Agreed. It was far more noticeable and looking at it was never a distraction.

…or how about a new one?

I think a smaller bar is better takes up less screen space and its easier to keep a eye on.

> The Reach health bar only irritated me, because it looked so old. It’s like early cars. Pointy, square and ugly.

Older cars are awesome. The new ones lake any character, there’s no substance and no style.

OT: The Reach shield bar was the first one. Noble was using the earliest models of Mark V so the HUD was likely an earlier design too.

Could not agree more.

Meh, I really couldn’t care less.

Don’t ever look at the think anyway.

I prefer the big Shield Bar at the top. It looks cooler.

I disagree. It looks compleatly ugly. Halo 3’s the way to go.

I like it at the top. Easier to look at quickly.
