Please bring back dual wielding in Halo 5

Dual Wielding has been gone for WAY too long.
It should come back, will it ever return?!

They took it out because it was degrading the Halo 2 sandbox. (When dual wielding you cannot melee or grenade). So, Halo 3 comes around and they never start you with dual wield weapons…and people hardly ever use them. And even when they do it is the same breaking thing. I do like it sometimes, but I understand why they ended it. They will likely never bring it back.

What about campaign, no reason to not bring it to Halo 5’s campaign!

Meh. Dual wielding, while looking cool, was kinda pointless (outside of the noob combo of Plasma pistol + whatever). I don’t feel like I’m missing it.

yes please do so you guys can make crap weapons that no one wants to pick up…

Notice when they get rid of dual wielding the pistol actually becomes a decent weapon again

The only time I like it is when the game type is duals only, it is fun sure, but makes so many weapons in the sandbox weak and useless by them self’s and then you drop a gun if you choose to grenade or melee I kind if get grenade but really you cant melee while holding two guns?..

Made the game more fun, and improved gameplay. For the players who don’t care for it, they don’t have to use it (like sprint), but the players who do want it can have so much fun!

I said a way they can balance it is that when you use a single wielded plasma pistol for example, it’s decent, but when you dual wield, it each plasma pistol becomes weaker so the net damage is only slightly better than the single wielded plasma pistol.

Fun is subjective. As for improved gameplay, how? Again, it created a lot of weapons that cluttered the sandbox, and outside of the noob combo, it really didn’t add anything major. The extra damage is negligible (as all the weapons were nerfed so as not to be OP) and you lose the ability to quickly throw a grenade.

It didn’t improve gameplay. Halo 2 and 3 suffered from a problem that later halos didn’t to the same extent. Weapon balance was horrendous.

Dual wielding means you have to balance weapons for single use and dual use - which isn’t really possible and ended up with dual wielding weapons being sub-optimal in almost every circumstance. This lead to weapons that were never used, and cases where SMG starts. Because if you had BR starts, no one would ever pick up an SMG.

They don’t want weapons that feel useless like halos in the past had.

Like I said in the opening post, they can change dual wielding to nerf weapons only when they are dual wielded. When single wielded they can be as strong as ever.

So then why does ALMOST EVERYONE on these forums seem to go “ew, Halo Reach and Halo 4 sucked” “Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the best Halos”

I was talking about the unsc pistol not the plasma pistol, when it stopped being dual weldable it become good again and got its scope back and was able to kill at a decent rate

right, so Halo 5 can make the pistol strong when single wielded, and nerf each one in each hand when dual wielded, so the net damage is only a bit stronger when dual wielded.

dual wielding would be nice but I’m not a big fan

the fans of it will love it though

OP you might want to rework that balancing you proposed.
If you balance the regular guns and add a 1.1 multiplier to duel wielding it makes the duel wield OP as the range and accuracy are imbalanced. It results in an instant SAW.

Balance the single smg the duel will be OP
Balance the duel the single is trash

Duel wields have to become more situational if theyre to return.
Here the best ive come up with:

Take your idea of a 1.1 multiplyer bump it to a 1.5x and add 50% spread increace.
Single smg has both a range and accuracy advantage over the duel but lacks the power.
This forced the duel into melee range.

Problem with this is the base smg becomes weaker than it would without duel wielding. The duel wield itself is kinda OP as itd have a kill time comparable to the ce pistol minus the difficulty to pull off.

We are honestly better without it in MM but id like to see it come back on day.

I’d love to see dual wielding return

> Balance the single smg the duel will be OP

what I mean is in halo 5 that the single smg will be decent and fair. but when you dual wield the smg, the properties change. So that each smg in each hand changes so that instead of being decent (when single wielded) each smg becomes trash in each hand.

Halo 5 should be like this:

smg in 1 hand = decent

smg in each hand = trash in each hand

(1 smg in one hand + 1 smg in one hand)1 trash + 1 trash = slightly better than decent

(1 smg in both hands) 1 decent = decent

so dual wielding smgs will make it so that they are slightly better than single wielding them, but not my so much that it become unbalanced.

Don’t forget players need to spend time looking for a second gun to dual wield, and they could have used that time to find the rocket launcher (somthing even more op than dual wielded smgs)

Holding a Plasma Rifle and SMG meant taking down shields and health much quicker. It added to the gameplay and choices beyond plasma pistol plus whatever.

You couldn’t zoom, grenade or melee. This limit to range and options is what made dual wielding work. It was a trade off. I would never take on a BR user at range, but in close quarters that BR isn’t going to be as OP as everyone seems to think I is.

The problem with dual wield now is range. Older Halos had close range battles. Halo 5 will have far less because of sprint and map sizes. Sprinting might mean dropping your left weapon which makes dual wield useless. Or if you keep them then you get people sprinting right up to you and killing you very easy.

Sprint and abilities like slide along with OP AR will mess with close range weapon balance.

JUST PUT DUAL WIELDING IN HALO 5 G’S CAMPAIGN AT LEAST!
