Please Add AFK Booting ASAP

I know that is a PC term but it is really annoying and it stops people exploiting matchmaking and spartan ops to level up. I just played the last chapter in episode 6 of spartan ops and it was really annoying having to walk all the way back to the objective because there was some noob who had planked himself away from where the fighting was. Please have it so people get booted for being inactive in game so people who really want to play can play the game instead of having people abusing the system

agreed i had some guy run me over then sit in a corner the rest of the game

Yeah I had one today that just sat in a corner on forge CTF. Then it was 4 v 3 pretty much and we lost (we were winning for half the game so if we had someone in the AFK spot we would have won). I get extremely annoyed when people do this. All you can do is give them a bad review, but they should be booted.

Part of it is the ranking system. The XP system is why people do it. I don’t remember almost ever seeing it in Halo 2 or 3, but I see it quite a bit in Halo 4.

YES!

I agree. A timer is required since we get JIP.

My worst Spartan Ops experience ever was on Shootout in Valhalla. There were two AFKs and a third teammate who thought it was fun to shoot my Mantis instead of the Banshees. He’d help explode my Mantis and then I’d spawn all the way across the map from the replacements. Also, it the worst lag I’ve ever had in a game and it was probably from one of the AFKers.

As much as I hated getting left a man down in the past, having a non-active teammate getting assassinated or splattered repeatedly and artificially driving up the other team’s score has always been a bigger annoyance for me in Slayer gametypes. Three superior players can hold off four others and still win; you can’t do that if they’re getting free kills. This kind of thing should have been instituted before Join-in-Progress. No controller input for 20-25 seconds and boot. I’m not sure if that’s a complicated thing to add, but it sure is needed.

This won’t help because players would just tape down their movement stick then go afk. They need to have a system similar to reach where if you go 0-20 3 games in a row then you would get a temp ban.

Let’s make it so that if you’re 5-10 minutes away, you get a short temp ban

I was thinking more about people who don’t realize it’s happening than XP farmers. You know, left the room and the match started or something came up quickly in the house. How about a built-in inactivity boot for no controller input and a report option for XP boosters who do as you say. If enough players report a player as AFK then they’re booted back to the lobby. There would have to be failsafes to keep it from being exploited by jerks, but something should be feasible.

BF3 had that. You could set a timer and if a player sat for the limit they were removed and a message would pop up saying you have been booted for being inactive to long

The problem with reach was all you needed was one kill then you could go afk for the rest of the match. It didn’t matter what gametype you were playing either. XP and Credits are essentially the same thing, you just need far fewer to hit max rank than you did in Reach.

This would make JIP a lot more palatable since if we would boot AFK’rs and not get a replacment we’re still down a man but at least the AFK’r is not getting XP for screwing his teammates.
