PLEASE ADD A SOCIAL PLAYLIST TO ARENA

Q: what course of events needs to transpire before 343i finally decides to add a permanent social playlist in Arena?

Seriously, we would have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa before the think tank over in Kirland figures out that social playlists are a necessity when you have an ultra competitive Mulitplayer.

I just took took about a week off from MP and when I came back I was shellacked because i was a little rusty with the controls.

It would be nice to have a social arena playlist to warm up with prior to jumping into a ranked match.

I can’t wait for the inevitable follow-up thread: “Wow 343 why are your social playlists so competitive I just want something to relax in!”

Lel, true.

It seems people don’t know Social playlists are usually where the competitive crowd goes to pub stomp other players for warm up or just for fun since they can relax and not care about rank.

Next people will be crying that they are getting steamrolled on social playlists.

Bottom line: if you take a break from MP, there should be a social playlist where you can warm up again before jumping into ranked playlists.

BTB and Warzone are unranked if your objective is simply to warm-up.

The point is that social is no different from ranked, only lacks the visually displayed ranking. They may loosen matching requirements, but you’re as likely to draw better players than worse players in that scenario.

^This is a common, and very poor defense for H5’s lack of a social playlist.

BTB & Warzone might be social, but are two totally different animals when compared to Arena (they require different strategies & tactics).

Therefore, they don’t count as “social playlists” to get someone warmed up for competitive arena

Social playlists also have JIP and playlists like social slayer even had a different play count of 10 for 5v5 vs normal Arena with 8 for 4v4.

There is NO SUCH THING AS SOICAL… even the social games of the past Halos were competitive. It still was players playing to win a game. I don’t get this “give me social” playlist. More playlist with more game types makes sense. But who cares if they are ranked or social.

BTB is a social playlist

Social Meaning: ranks are not taken into account, teams will match solo Q-ers and many shenanigans will take place

Action-Sack: a term many players confuse with “social playlists” usually includes fun and interesting gametypes that are unique to the halo experience and meant to be lighthearted mayhem.

I disagree, i use them as worm up cause it gets my aim as well as my reaction speed tuned for the day of play. All because the number of players are different or the objective is different does not mean they cant be used as a warm up. Thats like saying slayer cant be a warm up for CTF.

games are naturally competitive. when you’re trying to get the most kills or flags of course there will always be competitiveness, even in a social playlists. you’re missing the point here. saying there is no such thing as social or that people would complain if there was social is not a valid argument. not even close.

the ranking system is flawed, it has improved but it is still flawed. people can’t de-rank from a tier they shouldn’t be in . this forces people to almost always play people above their skill level. social playlists without rankings do not have this restriction. yes they might still encounter onyx players in a social playlist, and yes they will still need to compete to win. but it does not mean social playlists do not exist. they are not like unicorns, they are very real.

social playlists offer anyone (even those who like ranked playlists) an opportunity to just play random 4v4 matches. someone who is lone wolfing it will have a better chance of finding a game they can 'warm up" in. large BTB games and Warzone games are often dominated by large groups of people playing in parties. it is hard to go into a warzone game and win without either A. having LOTS of great teammates or B. playing very strategically and active. Warzone is definitely a casual, social playlist but it is way too far away from the original halo recipe that it leaves a lot to be desired.

I did not like warzone when it came out, couldn’t wait for BTB. Only play warzone now because i have friends that love it ( and to complete some commendations easily). It is not my ideal game type in halo by far! Many of my friends i play with almost refuse to play any ranked playlists because of the high level of competitiveness. Not everyone in the group can hang with diamond and onyx players we run into even as platinums. They are all getting tired with the game and most of them aren’t playing much anymore, if at all. People like them who want a more social experience, not an ultra competitve one, do not have enough game types to keep them around. someone like that who doesnt want to play ranked has only 3options right now, and that is unacceptable.

i guarantee that when they add social playlists most of the people playing ranked will continue to work on their ranks. social playlists will be dominated by those mainly looking to have fun, not necessarily improve their KD or overall win percentage. That is the main difference in mentality of social playlists. Social playlists are supposed to be casual and fun. Fiesta classic, anything in action sack, rockets, medal madness, you name it. those are not ultra competitive game types and you have to admit it.and people do want just normal 4v4 slayer as a social playlist. sure people will always have to use strategy to win, and there will be great competition in social playlists. that does not mean there is no such thing as a social playlist.

i could go on and on. i just don’t understand people trying to stand up for 343 when customers say there is a lack of playlists. doesnt matter if they want ranked, unranked, social, etc. there is a huge lack of variety here and it is hurting the game population, i am seeing it first hand. why would anyone want to discourage social playlists when so many are asking for them? just because you don’t want them doesnt mean the game shouldn’t have them.

example; i hate infection. its a worthless game type. i would never play it. i still think that it should be included without a doubt asap. it is obviously popular and this game desperately need more variety. sure i think it shouldn’t be first in line to be added, but the more the merrier!

same goes for social playlists. even if i wasn’t interested and didn’t like social playlists, or if i thought they didn’t they were any different than ranked, i would still think 343 should add them to please the people who do want that game type.

to be clear i understand the arguments saying social is the same as ranked but without the visual ranks. word is btb still has a ranking system we can’t see for example. which brings me to another point. taking ranks off btb did not make it social. all those onyx and champion players are still playing BTB, they are just now separated by the “invisible” ranking as i call it. Had they kept BTB ranked and added a separated social BTB then they would have something there. I’ve posted about this in the past so won’t go on and on, but it is only social is there is also a similar ranked option.just removing a rank from a playlist and calling it social is not only lazy but it is not a good example of what social playlists could be…

point is social and ranked playlists attract different populations. sometimes they mix, but in general after time those playing social are more casual gamers and those playing ranked are more competitive. why deny anyone what they want from such a fun game. the more the merrier.

No, it’s not.

BTB is still ranked and your CSR is still being tracked, however your rank is now hidden. I was Champion 7 when BTB went “social” - I had a very hard time finding games when it was ranked and that has continued. To this day, I still cannot find games searching by myself. I need to search with tags that were previously unranked or low level like Gold. That should never, ever happen in a Social playlist.

Halo 5 NEEDS to have true social playlists.

BTB has hidden MMR/CSR as Heineken says… If you play enough, you will be a champion and it will take you hours to find a match…
