Personally, I miss skill that came with the Halo 3 Energy Sword, in which you had a Quick Swing with no lunge mapped to melee and a normal lunge. This brought a dynamic to sword fights that I feel has been missing since, in that you could use the quick swing to parry and then follow up with a sword lunge for the kill, and I don’t understand why this hasn’t returned.
As for the Gravity Hammer, getting into a melee fight with it now is an all or nothing ordeal. Both melees having the same swing speed is a major misstep imo because it just makes the normal melee objectively worse than any other melee in the game. What happened to the heel butt we used to have in previous games?
If you don’t want to implement it under melee (for whatever reason) then how about making a quick swing available as an alternate fire mode? A no lunge quick slash for sword and a faster side swipe for the hammer with no AoE? Either way, I would like to see an alternative to the single mode implemented to spice up melee combat a bit.
