Please 343i!

This is feedback from the Beta out now, that I’m playing. It isn’t hate, it’s what I would like to be changed for the better.

  • Audio
Announcer: Please don’t make the him talk too much, only keep him talking in emblems which actually are neccesary like in killing sprees, multikills and objective moments. Having him talk in every second emblem makes it very hard to hear the spartan chatter which I will get to after this. And please don’t make him talk too often. Ex. only make him say the name of the gametype, not tell a novel about it.

Spartan Chatter: Make it toggle-able. It’s hard for me and my friends to do proper callouts when our spartans yell out stuff along with the emblem announcer. Having it is really nice but it interups alot aswell. If it’s possible, make it optional to hear it through game sound or chat sound. Would be nice.

Notification Sounds: Some sounds like the on-hit pling sound should be removed or lowered in volume aswell as changed to a darker tone like Halo CE’s. Making it toggle-able would be a good option too. It disturbs Spartan Chatter and comes up way too often.

  • Mechanics
Weapons: Either make the smart-link/smart-scope like binoculars which stay on like you said or remove them. They make weapons like the AR alot stronger and people rely on it way too much. And as you said in a vidoc, if they rely on it too much you’ve broken the game.
The AR should also have a small damage nerf. It’s way too strong compared to it’s older brothers and it doesn’t feel like an AR…

Movement: Bump up the normal walking speed and increase the ramp up time for the sprint. The ramp up time isn’t enough and allowes you to escape rather easily still. For those who don’t know, if you get shot during the ramp up time you stop sprinting. But since it’s so short it doesn’t really help much. The combination with the thruster pack and slow rampup time makes it too easy to escape.

Jump height should also be slightly increased. I feel too heavy and weak whenever I jump. It also forces me to use the clamber function which is crucial not to use whenever I enter a battle by jumping to it.

Ground Pound: It’s a nice feature but it shouldn’t be able to be usable if you’re in a restricted area. I’ve tried to do jumps which require clamber but can be easily done with crouch jumping and the Ground Pound cancles that option for me. It makes me stop mid air in and forces me to use clamber.

Hover: Please remove this, it’s toggle-able and that’s nice but it destroys for those who don’t know about it. It screws up your aim and makes you too easy of a target.

Quick-Scopinng/Bringing Your Weapon Back Up: It’s barely possible to do a proper quick-scope because it takes too long to bring your weapon into zoom let alone bring it back up after sprint. Please speed that up like in the old days.

  • Visuals****Power Weapon Indicators: We didn’t like them in Halo 4, they remove map knowledge and they get shown at the start of a game anyway. If you want to keep them at least make them temporary (they dissapear after 5 seconds after that the weapon spawns) or make them like in Halo 2, only visible when in a surten range.

Brightness: Please add this option in because currently the game is rather dark and some players might like it darker or lighter. Personally I like it brighter.

So far this is all I have to come with. There is a bit more but I feel like they are som duh elements like being able to look at the carnage report in post-game lobbies or a counter for your reswapn.

I hope 343i takes a look at this and if anyone has something to say about this feel free to do so.

EDIT: Fixed some typos and spell correction.

I agree on all accounts. Especially the artificial Spartan talking. There should be a toggle for this. If I’m with a bunch of friends that I want to hear I don’t want to computer yelling “Grenade” at the same time.

They aren’t artificial, it’s your spartan and other spartan doing callouts. But thanks for being on my side, many on this forum are so butthurt nowadays, including myself. But being one sided is bad, gotta be open to some things and at least help pruning the new to make it as good as possible.

The announcer Just needs to say “Slayer”. Not Slayer, kill the enemy to earn points.

Game looks really smooth and very competitive. I think 343 could do well if they get it right and tweak some of the annoying stuff such as announcer and Spartans talking.

Most things just need a toggle ON/OFF.

Is it me or does the grenades seem a bit too bouncy and powerful? Like the effective blast radius seems to be a bit too high for them

What a bunch of whiners…

Agreed. Since there isnt anything broken in the game I say leave it all in there, that stuff is all personal preferences. They can’t make everyone happy so instead just learn how to play with all the new features. I will agree on the chatter being optional because that means the people who like it can leave it on.

If you include me in that statement then I wonder why. It is feedback which 343i is asking for. It’s what’s this thread is for. If you think it’s whining then you shouldn’t even be here because everything must be whining.

How is any of this whining? It’s contructed feedback which 343i wants. I’d be whining if I just said that it NEEDS to be changed. This is just suggestions on how to improve some things I think can need some improvement. It’s feedback, not whining.

Personally I like the Assault Rifle’s improvements, it actually seems to perform more like a rifle and less like an oversized SMG. Also helps keep DMR/BR from being undisputed dominant weapons. Good change I say.

I can agree. But the DMR and BR are meant to be the dominant weapons in their ranges and so is the AR but with the Smart-Link and the damage of the AR it interfeers in the territory of those weapons. And with the low aim-assist the DMR and BR are much harder to use so they’re are not that strong in the hands of a noob compared to a above avarge+ player.

What’s in bold I agree with and what is italics I disagree with. Pretty good list so far, I like how your post was not bashing the game but had well thought out improvements.

With the growing map size in recent Halos perhaps the “intended ranges” have been redefined?

Also the lower aim assist means the players with more skill will still win right since one must master handling of the weapon without the game holding their hand through assist? That sounds like a good thing to me that not everyone can pick up a BR and just pwn everything.

It’s our job too that’s what they want so they can make the game better, I do agree on the spartan taking too much, plus I don’t like the whole winning scene bros…that was lame, keep it serious.

Perhaps they could make it so you could choose between different animations… like if you are the top scoring player on the winning team yours is shown… just a thought

I corrected what I said on the Ground Pound.

Before: should be able
After: Shouldn’t be able

I typed it wrong, maybe your opinion about that part is fixed now.

Plus, you think you could tell me why you disagree with what’s in italic?
