> 1) I already admitted it’s less skillful. But my point is that it’s mindless fun. It’s a nice break from the grind of regular Slayer. Mindless. Fun.
then if its for a break from regular slayer then it shouldn’t be in the regular slayer playlits but in the playlists that are designed to take a break from the regular stuff, in other words, it belongs in action sack.
> 2) “Fun” is a subjective term. Do not state that it’s “not fun” as if it’s objects. YOU don’t think it’s fun, sure. But that doesn’t mean that everyone else entirely agrees with you.
obviously i was speaking out of my own opinion and point of view, that much is obvious since its impossible for me to state what is fun for other people because as you said, fun is objective and for me, team rockets isn’t fun.
> 3) So you’re trying to say people who like Team Rockets are n00bs/suck at Halo? That is a really, really broad stroke you’re painting with there. Besides, who DOESN’T like easy kills? Are you telling me you never pick up power weapons? You NEVER use the Rocket Launcher when you come across it in Slayer? Of course you do. Everyone does. It doesn’t mean you suck, or that you’re less skilled for wanting to use a weapon that kills easier/quicker. It’s part of strategy.
i’m not trying to say that at all, i said that was from my experience with the gametype, that doesn’t mean that everyone who enjoys it is bad but merely from what i experience around the gametype was that the people who voted for it, always wanted to play it and thorougly enjoyed it were the people that struggled to get kills in a regular slayer gametype, this doesn’t say that everyone who enjoys it is bad, it just means that is what i personally experienced but i could have just been ending up in the wrong custom lobbies or playing with dumb people.
i made it a point at the start of the sentance that it is what i personally experienced so that people don’t get the wrong end of the stick and start jumping to negative conclusions all the time.
picking up a power weapon is differenet then actually spawning with it, there are quite a few different mechanics in play.
> 4) It doesn’t reduce skill gap; each player spawns with the same weapon, thereby allowing each player equal opportunity to kill the other(s). Sure, it’s a quicker kill, but it also means YOU can be killed quicker as well, so things like knowing the map, knowing when to pick your battles, moving around and knowing the best ways to get to different areas are all still important. The only (or one of the only) things that isn’t important anymore is knowing weapon locations/spawns.
you don’t seem to grasp how things work, it does reduce the skill gap because the rocket launcher is very very easy to use while being one hit kill, so easy to get kills with that a little kid can manage it and actually have done, its why they like to camp its spawn at every chance, because the weapon is so easy to get kills with means a lot of skill that goes into getting kills is being removed, there is very little effort needed to get the kill while a hundred times more effort is needed to actually stay alive, such an extreme un-balance makes it easier to play the game and harder for skilled players to succeed which is known as reducing the skill gap.
when the weapon is on map, its a different story, sort of, with powerfull weapons like the rocket launcher they’re put on long respawn times so that they don’t show up often and create lop sided games, and, because they’re on the map means you actually have to earn the right to use the weapon and even then it isn’t even a garauntee, when you go to collect the weapon you’re not going to be able to walk past and grab it, oh no, you have to fight against the other team who have set up in order to earn the weapon themselves so you and your team have to set up and take them down in order to get a hold of the weapon for your team, but, this isn’t the end of the story, a good map has these weapons put in places that aren’t its effective range/area, so, even if you earn the weapon you still have to fight to be able to use it, while moving to locations where it will be in its prime, pushing in with it for effective use you’re still going to have to fight you way there through the other team barraging you with bullets and then use it, this is a lot of effort put into obtaining the powerfull weapon and to be able to use it but because the weapon is so powerfull its reward is big that it balances out nicely.
when you spawn with such a powerfull weapon, all of this goes out the window, of course map movement, awareness, knowledge and deecision making will still play a key role, its role is greatly reduced because there is very little effort for people to actually kill you without the same set of skills, they can succeed and they do.
> Regardless, if the playlist does come back, just don’t play it. It making a return does NOT affect your experience in other playlists, so why deny other people something they enjoy just because you don’t like it? Makes zero sense and is quite selfish, actually.
i’m pretty sure it was a gametype put in with a regular slayer playlist, at least it was in halo 3, if it is in its own playlist or shoved in with action sack then i honestly wouldn’t care because i can avoid such a nastey taste.
