If there is one thing that I am seriously getting tired of in Halo it is weapons that serve absolutely no purpose what so ever. Halo 3’s Spiker or pistol, Halo Reach’s AR, Halo Reach’s Plasma repeater, even the Needler in pretty much every game, these are weapons that I never use, because they are terrible in almost every situation. I am of the belief that if you are going to put it into the game it should serve a role, in Reach the AR/plasma repeater was a useless weapon, I think I may have a few hundred kills with either of those in Reach, compare that to my Pistol and DMR kills and it is just crazy. In Halo 4 however I am really hoping that these weopon pack enough of a punch to be a usable side arm in the correct situations. I would also love to see them have a skill gap so that they are not a frustratingly lame weapon to be killed by.
Halo CE’s AR was a powerful weapon used in the correct situations, I don’t remember people calling it a n00b weapon either, and it should be the same way now. MLG may not like the idea of it but they can remove it from their versions of maps as we all know.
The only reason MLG did not use the AR is simply because as you stated, it was useless to use in comparison to using a battle rifle. I agree that they need to make the AR more powerful in Halo: 4, but I believe that they have already addressed this by stressing their desire to make a balanced weapon sandbox.

The plasma repeater pwns u just got to learn how to use it however the AR deserves a massive buff should have more power and more ammo so it can kill 3 people max per clip (like the CE AR 60 rounds)

To be fair every weapon looks like it will require a larger skill gap than Reach, the BR looks akin to Halo 3’s BR which had the highest Skill gap in Halo, Sniper, and Rockets are both harder to use, and the DMR with out Bloom (the way it was in Reach) will take plenty of skill, and the Carbine as always will require perfect shooting all the time to be really good with.
I loved the spiker, dual it with a plasma rifle and you could kill like mad. The plasma repeater was great too if you knew how to use it properly. The needler is devastating if you know how to use it too…
Seems like you think the weapons you are no good with are bad, when the case is just that you don’t know how to use them properly.

Yeah, I’ll believe that when I see a video of you getting sprees with those weapons, they are not “really powerful” in the least.

I’ve gotten multi-kills and sprees with them. Nothing really crazy, but they are powerful.

The Halo 3 br had the highest skill gap in Halo?..

OP. Every gun in Halo 4 has been built up through a mathematical process to determine its strength and value in Halo 4. I know its been a while, but here 343 has shown this is not a matter of opinion, but a mathematical process they have been doing all throughout their internal test build. While I can’t comment about previous Halo game developers using this method, it is clear as day this is an exact science to determining weapons strength and value. In the end though, its all about how well you can utilize the weapon you’ve got to get the kill or assist.

Ugh, there should be a rule against people who started playing Halo during the second half of Halo 3 making threads asking for significant changes to gameplay. I really hope THC forums open back up again soon.
