Please 343, Custom Game Browser. Make it so.

One thing Halo has in spades is it’s customizability. From map creation, unique game-types and completely different ways to play the game. It is Un-paralleled in the console world.

Reach dropped the ball big time by not allowing players to search for Public Custom Game Lobbies. Why did bungie exclude this, even with an advanced file browser? I do not know. But because of this, the ability to find custom maps and settings was limited to Action Sack or using message boards to try and arrange meetings.

Halo 4 is set to be vastly superior in terms of Map Creation and Custom Games. So why not give us a Custom Game Browser? It will vastly extend the games life cycle and scratch that itch that many of us have had since H2.

Please 343, make it so.

Because you cannot just make a browser JUST like that.

You speak as if you know first hand the difficulties in creating such a thing. Please enlighten me

Like for halo 2 PC, I always wanted a custom game browser ! it would be amazing to test maps that you are creating or play your favorites gametype, for example : if you like to play MLG TS in The Pit(halo 3) You search for that game type and if you wanna play it over and over, 24/7… you could play it forever!

This unfortunately would never work. There is too much to account for.

As I’ve said many times, this would be the best thing to happen to a Halo game.

I did like Halo PC’s online, something similar to that MAY work

> This unfortunately would never work. There is too much to account for.

The PC side of Halo would like to have a word with you.

Ummm, what? No. You’re the one who’s-

Your logic is-

sigh Never mind.

why dont they make a browsing system that asks for criteria and then searches for just that?

kinda like an advanced search restriction in hunting games.

ex:

Payer Type: Team, Free for All, or Custom

Game Type:(specific slayer or objective game type, CTF, MLG, Infection, etc.) (and for customs a filtered search tab would pop up here for specific named game types, Duck hunt, teacher, and so on. Sorta how the file share bowser works)

Preferred Map:(it would put said map on priority when searching)

Player Size: (pre-set parameters, 2-4, 4-8, 8-12,and so on)

It wouldnt be a 100% perfect engine but it would essentially give you a filtered search of what you actually want to play and people who want to play it.

just an idea.

I think it defeats the purpose of having matchmaking. If you want to play custom games you should do it with your friends.

> I think it defeats the purpose of having matchmaking. If you want to play custom games you should do it with your friends.

Some people don’t have friends that play Halo. Some people don’t have friends that are online all the time. Some people don’t have friends at all. Some people are quite frankly sick and tired of the limited selection of maps and gametypes in Matchmaking. Some people are sick of making maps and gametypes that no one is going to play anyway. Some people want to put aside the competitiveness of Matchmaking and just have fun. Some people want to unlock of the full potential of online gaming and play what they want when they want it in a game they purchased with a service they pay for. What’s your point?

If you think it’s just some sorta easy ‘‘Program - implent’’ situation. You’re wrong. I shouldn’t even have to explain it.

I don’t know how to even BEGIN to design then build an engine for a automobile, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know it won’t be an easy task.

But it already existed in Halo 2 PC. It exists in countless other console titles made by less competent developers. I honestly think it can’t be that hard. Just to set-up a flag on a session when your hosting a public game. This flag contains Region - Map - Gametype - Player Count(Hash data refreshed quickly). Then, you search by region. Gives a list of all availble matches for that region, with the player count at that time listed. You can then refine your search by Map and gametype.

Anyways, you all know it would be awesome. Stop lying to yourselves

Make it so.

And yes, it would add so much replay value to the game. People’d be playing this game forever. It’d never get boring; jump into a Spartan Ops game to check out the new missions, play the campaign, play some matchmaking, build a forge map, join a custom game, etc.

There’s just so much you can do, this feature would add so much to the game. Halo 4 needs this. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why play matchmaking when you can play customs?

Why add something when you can simply add it to forums?

Why add something that would delay the fricken game?

Seriously, its not a big deal - until you try to add it to the game. You can do it in the forums anyways - Customs are meant to be played with friends. Forever Alone? Maybe thats what the recruitment section is for…

People might act like they want it at first, but when everyone is playing customs and nobody plays MM, you’ll know you made a mistake. Better add it to forums than online searching.

Definitely, I was hoping for something like this when Reach dropped, but no dice.

This time around though it would be incredible

Because requiring people to log into the forums just to find a game is just too many loops to jump through. Some people don’t have their PC right next to their xbox, and having it in-game just makes complete sense.

In terms of delaying the game, yah, i’m pretty sure they wouldn’t do ANYTHING right now that’s going to push their release beyond the Black Ops 2 release
