I saw some old beta game play the other day on Eden and I know that people complained about the game play (basically it wasn’t easy) now were stuck with cartoony maps and no variety. To me Eden beta version just felt more halo more artistic. You know tell me your thoughts maybe make this a big enough issue for it to be noticed by the big 343 for halo 6 … Well only if your agree
Agreed. Everything H4-5 is just too clean. Hopefully Halo 6 will have a more boots in the mud/gritty look to it like Reach did.
Also hope it’s M again. Multiplayer is fine, but it’s super noticeable in campaign.
“Cartoony”? Are we talking about the game that has Grunts who talk about food -Yoink!- and guns that fire pink “pew pew” crystals?

Lol
I think the downgrade in details has to do with the resolution and the limits of the console. The beta only ran at 720, remember? The full game has a dynamic resolution up to 1080p and is much larger, and the Xbox One is not the most powerful system they could have made. It took until Halo 4 to really push the 360 to its limits (for Halo, that is), but with the Xbox One, it appears that Halo 5 has already done that. You may have to settle for a lower resolution or a smaller scale game if you want more details … but that’s only if you consider grunge and grit to be that big of a deal. Just wash your damn armor and sweep your maps. lol
I think the game looks fantastic. It feels new and fresh.
If anything a brutal spinoff would be fantastic. Adapt one of the major battles from the books, and have it not feel like a crisp Marvel movie-ized Halo.
Elite Brute wars, Harvest, Onyx, etc.
Maybe an ODST 2 with a different squad, or just adapt New Blood
thanks for the replies and personally I’m not that fussed on 1080 p and 60 frames considering it looked so much better id rather the 720 and 30 frame (sorry I didn’t look at my own post )

Yrahh I get what your saying but its not the enemies in on about its the look and feel of the game not to mention the armours

True dat. Classic Halo’s just had this “style” I really cant pinpoint the word. Idk what Bungie did to make it feel so right.
I’d like a Halo 2/3 level of dirt. Reach went way too far with it in my opinion.

It’s because Bungie used the Alien franchise, which is very gritty, as inspiration when making Halo. 343 seems to be going for a very sterile, clean sci-fi look, which I don’t think fits Halo well.

The fantastic decision to go for 60fps (I’m so tired of console gamers downplaying this) has no relation whatsoever to the art style of Halo 5. And literally every single game in the series was cartoon camp to the max until Reach. Every one.

Halo: Combat Evolved looking gritty…So… yeah. Not really. They might have had somewhat colorful visuals, but they weren’t all that cartoony. I mean, we don’t want to be like Gears of War, which has like over 9000 shades of brown being used.
The game feels great, different.
The only thing that changed with Eden is the map is now a bit brighter. Everything else is the same. (other than weapon placement)
I think 343 should have stuck with the betas look, even if the resolution was lower then now, it looked much more next gen to me.
Ill just be really blunt here…
343 needs to cut it out with the simulation crap and return to a ‘real life’ theme for all its multiplayer so they can have a good reason to return to the gritty/grainy Reach look.
I get what you’re saying. I agree. I think Halo needs some “dark, gritty” paint thrown on.
