Playlists in Halo 4

okay so i know this topic has been touched upon before from time to time, but i wanted to give my point of view on what playlists i want to see, but also what I’d like to see in them and why.

Before i go through them, note that i understand dividing playlists too thinly isn’t always a good idea, but in some cases i believe it’s necessary. I am also going under the assumption that there will be a separate ranked system (which halo so desperately needs).

Social

Team Slayer - slayer gametypes w/ classic scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 4v4
Infinity Slayer - slayer gametypes w/ new scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 4v4
FFA (Rumble Pit) - FFA gametypes, slayer and objective w/ new and classic scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 6-8 players
Team Objective - objective gametypes w/ new gameplay mechanics. 4v4
Team Swat - new gameplay mechanis (w/ possible modifications to amor mods and abilities) 4v4
Big Team - slayer and objective gametypes w/ new game mechanics and both classic and new scoring. 8v8
Griffball - anything griffball.
Team classic - slayer and objective, everything Halo 3 style. 4v4
Multi-Team - slayer and objective w/ new scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 4 teams of 3

Ranked

Team Slayer - slayer gametypes w/ classic scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 4v4
Team objective - objective gametypes w/ new gameplay mechanics. 4v4
Team snipers - snipers only, no grenades, no AA, no Armor mods/tactical/support packages, no secondarys, no radar, unlimited ammo, sprint. 4v4
Lones Wolves - FFA gametypes, slayer and objective w/ new and classic scoring and new gameplay mechanics. 6-8 players
Team Classic - slayer gametypes, everything Halo 3 style. 4v4
Classic Objective - objective game types, everything halo 3 style 4v4.
MLG - MLG settings for halo 4
Team doubles - slayer and objective gametypes w/ new game mechanics and both classic and new scoring. 2v2

Other possibilities (these are playlists that i see being added eventually or for Double exp weekends or that aren’t necessary in my view)

Action Sack - creative and crazy gametypes
Living Dead - infection
Fiesta - spawn with random weapons (maybe a fully random loadout?)

Legend

new gameplay mechanis = -loadout system and new flag and oddball mechanics (in objective context)

new scoring system = -infinity slayer scoring (point based)

classic scoring = -kill based (halo 1,2,3,Reach style)

Halo 3 style = - no loadouts, sprint, halo 3 style flag/oddball mechanics and default halo 4 weapons/grenades/vehicles etc.

please give your opinions on my ideas here and feel free to post your own ideas or suggestions (i may updated my OP if i like the ideas that i see and if they are reasonable of course).

I just want the Halo 3-styled playlists back. Ranked and Social. Boom.

A Community playlist ala Reach would also be nice.

agreed, i made this trying to cater to everyone’s preferences. I hope i found a pretty good balance

objective is a much more competitive game by nature than BTB. i also wanted to limit the overall number of play lists while still catering to everyone. I just don’t see a need for BTB ranked.

Playlists should be kept to a minimum. Reach failed when it introduced multiple ways of playing the same game. This wasn’t helped by the immense number of playlists that thinned out the community even further. At least at launch, limit the number of playlists to a small number.

I know what you mean. These aren’t meant to be all at launch necessarily. However Reach didn’t fail because of too many playlists. It failed because the core game just wasn’t good. No ranked (Arena REALLY doesn’t count) unbalanced AAs, Bloom etc.

i wish they would just make a Big Team Objective playlist. i find the funnest moments ive ever had on halo were the times when its a big team CTF and assault.

there is absolutely no love for the big team objective in reach. its just slayer match after slayer match…

This is my opinion but i believe ppl may disagree with me. I think Team SWAT and Griffball should be moved to Ranked Playlist.

Im down with that. I love SWAT though. It was a ranked playlist in Halo 3.

I knew someone was going to say that (not saying its a bad idea) but… again i only included it in Social because i feel its a less competitive game by nature than some of the other ranked games (not saying it can’t be competitive) but i just don’t feel that its worth it considering i was trying to limit the number of playlists. Just my explanation as to why its not there.

How so BTB has both slayer and objective its just on a bigger scale that requires more team work

So a Ranked BTB playlist would be better then 2 objective playlists just with different settings

I want a Living Dead playlist… please?

I’d love to see this Team Classic Halo 3 Style. :smiley:

I did really enjoy the halo 3 playlist layout (get those -Yoink!- guests out of a match without having to go to MLG), but they haven’t even announced that it’s gonna be true-skill based leveling. So far they’ve just said 50 levels, for all we know is that it could be like reach leveling rather than halo 3. So dividing up the playlists like that with out true-skill would be point less, people would just migrate to where its easy to level and gain the most xp rather than looking for a pointless challenge for an inefficient amount of ‘xp’.
