Hey, I’m not sure if this has been discussed before but I am bored and don’t want to study for my final lol. I feel like the overwhelming amount of playlists in Reach splintered the community too much. While I understand wanting to have something for everyone, I don’t see the need for a lot of the playlists in Reach. Reach has 20 playlists, not counting the Firefight ones. Reach has this problem in which it doesn’t know what it wants to be so it tries to be everything. The Anniversary gameplay is different than the Title Update gameplay which is different than the regular gameplay. There’s no better way to confuse new people and splinter the community than to have the Halo gameplay split into 3 or more different ways to play it. I understand that things like Grifball make for different gameplay but what I’m talking about is regular Halo being played 3 different ways. I really hope H4 doesn’t ever have this identity problem. I’ll list the playlists I believe deserve a spot in H4 and feel free to add, subtract, multiply or divide my ideas. I’d like a healthy discussion.
4v4 Slayer
5v5 Objective
FFA
BTB
Double Team
Multi-Team
Ranked Slayer/Objective
Custom Game Lobby Search - Not so much a playlist but it is made up of custom lobbies that are searchable. The search field would make it so you could search, for example, MLG and find a list of MLG lobbies (Note: You can have a regular custom game lobby for your friends that isn’t available for other people to search for but there will be a toggle so you can show up on a search if you wanted). It would work like a regular server list on the PC. After searching MLG, a list of lobbies comes back that has MLG in their description. You can choose between the different lobbies, each lobby has a description of gametypes, amount of people in lobby already, open spaces available and other useful information.
My thought on MLG/Grifball/Living Dead/SWAT is that they are custom games. I understand they all have quite a following but I think they’d be better served in custom game lobbies. I’m not sure how hard it would be to implement the Custom Game Lobby Search I mention but I feel like it would be so beneficial to Halo.
Objective has already been discussed, and is confirmed it is being tailored to a 5v5 experience.

I gotcha. Thanks, I’ll edit my post to reflect that. Is that all you have to say? lol No thoughts on anything I posted besides correcting the 4v4 mistake… not even the custom lobby search? Discuss some stuff man! lol Damn I should really start to study.

Those maps… Horrendous.
There should be a ranked counter-part to every social playlist like in H2+H3. That way each game mode can be tailored to “social” or “competitive” players without arguing over game settings and players can easily choose how they want to play that specific night.
For example
Social Team Slayer

Team Objective

Social Big Team

Agreed, that would be great
I’ll just quote myself from another recent thread about Halo 4 playlists.

While a Custom Game Browser would be nice, it won’'t be happening. So, with that said, here is my ideal lineup:
Classic Team Slayer
Team Slayer (4v4)
Team Objective (5v5)
BTB
FFA
Double Team
Team Snipers
SWAT
Action Sack (includes Grifball and Infection variants)
Ranked MLG
Ranked Team Skirmish (mixture of slayer and objective)
That is 11 playlists to start off. Not too many, and should be enought to cover all of the bases.

It was confirmed in one of the Sparkcasts. I can’t be bothered to listen to them all to actually find out in which one it was said.
We really don’t know enough[read: anything] about how the playlists will be structured. Heck, 343 is even being secretive about Capture the Flag.

I love this split. I agree it’s not too many and still has all the main playlists. Since there won’t be any Custom Lobby search I would have to say your list here is my personal wish for H4.
Ranked:
Slayer
Objective
Rumble Pit
Doubles
SWAT
MLG
BTB Skirmish
BTB Slayer
Social:
Actionsack
Multi-Team
Infection
Grifball

Study quickly! Don’t let your parents catch you…

Thanks for only getting, out of my whole entire thread, that I was putting off studying. If it interests you so much, I’m old enough to not have to worry about parents catching me on the internet so don’t worry. I always wonder how many people don’t even read the entire OP’s post and instead just say what they want lol.
OT: I was thinking this in between my study time… but has it been mentioned if Infinity slayer, will it be available in Objective too?, will have its own playlist or just be available in a general Team Slayer, Objective?, playlist.

^This cause I played a lot of halo 3 and had a 50 in everything and the people I enjoyed playing with could not really do much playing at higher levels… But I wanted to play doubles and snipers and 4v4 with them! It caused a big problem for me.
Then Reach kind of fixed that problem by making everything social .__. but then the competitive side of me was lonely, I want a good mix between the two
