Sorry if repost but forum searches fail and I couldn’t find another thread on this.
So yea the latest playlist update in an attempt to “organize” or “clean up” matchmaking and make search times quicker was a complete and utter failure. I never had issues finding matches in the first place, and now they’ve taken out $40 of DLC that is now basically useless. No more Squad DLC, (which was a poor replacement for Premium Batlle/Slayer in the first place) and no Anniversary BTB? Honestly? I want DLC playlists back or my $40 bucks back.
And the matchmaking has gone to heck in a handbasket for me ever since this update. I find matches still no problem but find myself being randomly blackscreened when no one else on my team is, but I always have Green connection and pull host quite often. And my register is utterly horrendous. I have a pretty slick DMR, but I find myself hitting bloodshots 25% of the time, especially with snipers and long range. And the LUNGING now holy balls. People are lunging 10+ feet without swords/sprint now and it’s making the double beatdown noobs even that more common.
In summation, MORE playlists, less lag.
I fully agree, the changes in the August update were poorly executed and short-sighted. It was a mistake to remove the DLC playlists; since they were paid maps, I really don’t know how they can justify it.
However, the in-game lag you experience is unrelated to the matchmaking updates or playlist selections. If any correlation exists, it comes merely from the reshuffling of the population as a result of the update.
Looks like I’ll have to do custom search for Good connection AND Language I guess. Thx

It’s also helpful to search with a team of friends.
That way, you have a better idea of what the connection is like, and the system can better match you up with similarly skilled teams.
Another thing, if you and your friends all have the DLC, you’re very likely to find opponents who also all have the DLC, and you can actually use the maps you paid for.
yeah I do all of the above as much as possible
I totally agree with you. I have an awesome connection and will mostly pull host with my BT Infinity. However when I dont everyone seems to make we lag or I search in firefight and it seems its always me that gets paired with only one other player.
As someone else stated and I am inclined to agree I believe it must have something to do with the playlist update. All the laggy players that used to play say firefight doubles for example because their connections sucked are now in standard firefight ruining everyone elses experience.
Lag was always bad in firefight but since the update its horrendous.

It’s not so much that people’s connections are bad but that firefight matchmaking puts international players in matches together. Firefight requires lower latency and higher bandwidth than competitive multiplyer because of all the scripting for AI that MUST be in sync across all players.
I am from Western Australia and Firefight on the rare occasion has paired me up with Californians (14779 kilometers or 9184 miles distant), the match quality was awful and probably only bearable because it was Firefight Doubles.
Yeah I can’t play firefight I have almost a .5 second delay on everything I do so it’s unplayable unless I do doubles with a friend from the U.S.
Lag and black screen come from the fact that hardly anyone plays Reach now so you will have more chance of matching with laggy people.
