I absolutely guarantee you if they do ranked slayer and it isn’t BR starts there’ll be uproar, rightly or wrongly.
You’re talking 1-50 style for ranked, right? I think everyone would like that and yet I don’t think it’s ever been suggested it’d come back.
I, like you, am in mid-Diamond and once/if I hit Onyx that is realistically the end of the feeling of progression for me, rightly or wrongly.

Yes that’s exactly what I was meaning. You and I feel the exact same there. The journey will be over for me as soon as I hit Onyx, so skipping the first like 24 ish ranks (6 ranks per tier) makes that journey all the more short-lived.
Am I the only one that does not actually care about these playlists?
SWAT would only be fun if its sidekick/Stalker, BR is super easy to use and we’ve been overusing it for months it feels like.
I’m already bored of Slayer, how anyone can seriously want to play one gametype all day is beyond me.
FFA would only be fun if it were designed to be competitive (BR starts, comp settings) but it’ll probably just be 8 people running around with AR’s meleeing eachother to death.
Sorry if this sounds a bit crazy, but I want to play something that I haven’t been playing since 2007. Firefight, Co-op Campaign, Invasion, Forge, etc. Modes that actually feel like unique modes that offer something different. Heck even Warzone would be a break from the monotony I say.

In my opinion, the more variety the better. Many different people enjoy a multitude of playlists, and some absolutely abhor them. People who dont like objectives don’t have an alternate mode to play in it’s place, so they have to pray they get it every game, which they more than likely wont. It’s just to cover all 343’s bases when it comes to providing a good experience for everyone.
Now, the other game modes, I agree there should be a lot more creative modes by now instead of a rehash of older modes.

@Thee_Bluejay You realize you’re allowed to switch playlists in between games right? Your statement of “playing one gametype all day is boring to me” makes no sense. Just choose another playlist. What we have right now is objectively more boring because you don’t get a choice to play what triggers your dopamine release the most.
Totally agree with your final point though about wanting more modes (mode = campaign, co-op, forge, customs, firefight, theater, etc) in addition to gametypes and playlists for these gametypes.
My point is that the playlists they are adding don’t mean anything for me. Now if you like to play Slayer 24/7 (god bless your soul) then its awesome, but I want something more interesting. I’ve been playing Slayer since the flights, it doesn’t mean much for me.

I see, so then theoretically if in another few weeks they expand even further and include both a ranked and social objectives playlist you’d be a lot more excited? If that’s the case, I agree. I want as many matchmaking playlists as Halo 3 or Reach, bare minimum. We’re talking social and ranked versions of FFA, TeamSlayer, Doubles, Objectives, and then social-only BTB, Infection, Grifball, and then ranked-only Team Hardcore and SWAT. Plus a rotating goofy playlist like Action sack or Shotty Snipers or Covenant Slayer.
That’s the dream right there.

Thank goodness. The lack of a slayer playlist was a tone deaf and unintelligent decision in my opinion. Halo is what, 20 years old and slayer has ALWAYS been the most popular option.
It sounds like it, there will just be more modes to choose from. Hopefully this is the case since there are definitely people who enjoy having slayer mixed in with all objective modes. I hope there is 3 at least, One Objective only, One Slayer only, and One mixed.
Just blows my mind about them not having it to encourage / force people into playing objective playlists.
If there’s a history of people preferring SWAT and Slayer etc. and Objective playlists usually have an ‘unhealthy’ population, then that’s just how it is. You’ll find most people prefer to just nuke eachother out of orbit instead of holding a skull or capturing flags
Edit: I usually enjoy the odd objective game just to break up slayer types, I’m sure there are people who prioritise objective modes but it’s clearly a minority

If that’s the case, I probably won’t spend much time in the slayer only playlist unless I get an unlucky run of objective matches.
I think they plan on having a slayer only list that have a variety of different slayer modes in them. They mentioned a ‘Social Slayer’ mode that is coming soon after the end of the year in addition to the game modes that have been announced already. So maybe running a ‘Slayer Only’ list will mean running through a few different types of Slayer variants. I’m completely in favor of having multiple playlists for full customization, but also know that this take a lot of different aspects to implement. Server segmentation and reliability is hard to guarantee.
It’s a video game… the job of the developer is to give the players something that they want to play, not to make those decisions for the player. That’s such an absurd design philosophy it’s incredible. “We knew most of you wouldn’t want to play objective so we had to force you to for your own good.”

Awesome, super keen! Just hope each game mode is an individual playlist! Not eager to have to select one playlist that has all of the above in it in the off chance I get the game type I’m looking for! Glad 343 is listening and making changes based on the communities feedback!
