Standard playlist:
Ok so after looking at what we have to look forward to I have come to this conclusion: Vanilla Reach is basically being eliminated. SWAT SNIPEERS and INFECTON would probably be the same with or without the Title Update. So the only two vanilla playlists are Team slayer and invasion. Invasion could not be adapted to the title update easily and is essentially it’s own standalone thing like swat snipers and infection. So really the only vanilla playlist we get is team slayer. It would be nice to have a vanilla rumble pit, or team objective.
CONCLUSION 1.
Standard playlist is not standard, but a collection of things that didn’t need or could not have the TU. The only thing standard is Team Slayer.
Evolved playlist:
Ok so the evolved playlist is just has everything with the TU. In this playlist we find everything we would want in a standard playlist, team slayer, rumble pit, objective, double team, big team battle, multi team, and the (sort of) competitive arena. Honestly this playlist contains basically all a halo game needs for multi player. It is the most standard of the lists actually.
CONCLUSION 2.
The Title update is now standard halo reach. This “evolved” playlist is the core of matchmaking.
Anniversary playlist:
So the entire Halo combat evolved anniversary game that they put together to celebrate classic halo has been reduced to two playlists. Anniversary classic, and Anniversary firefight. This must be offensive to people that only have Anniversary. I thought it was neat originally that anniversary was like it’s own game with the basic options one expects of a halo game. Now it’s been striped down. Honestly it’s a bit of a rip off to those that got it.
CONCLUSION 3.
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary was a standalone game originally, but now it’s multiplayer has been neutered.
Community playlist:
Ok in community playlist we have MLG which is a community, and Grifball. Action sack has been removed. This makes no sense. Grifball kinda grew out of Action sack in Halo 3. If they just re incorporated it into Action sac it would work fine. Hell have it always show as an option if it’s that popular. There must have been something really wrong with action sack that they did not want to fix. Choosing just Grifball is lazy. They really should have mixed it back into Action sack. They could have looked at which games in action sack were popular and which weren’t and re built it into something interesting.
CONCLUSION 4.
343 does not have time to actually work on things in reach. (although I loved the addition of maps to invasion that they finally did
CO-OP playlist:
Ok standard co-op stuff campaign, firefight. I find it ironic that firefight only has two options here. And one of them is not CO-OP at all
I don’t get the point of score attack. There should be something more.
CONCLUSION 5.
Firefight kinda sucked in Reach
Final thoughts:
This playlist update eliminates vanilla reach. Forces the title update. And barely plays lip service to anniversary and firefight. This looks like a playlist that was put together in one meeting where honestly no one cared about actually keeping the balance of gametypes while reducing the spread of the population. This is not a streamlined halo reach. It’s Reach title update the on line game.
