Playlist Consolidation

343, you really, really need to cut back. You really do. You’ve got like, 19 playlists going on here. You look like the awkward guy who collects all the weird crap and then never throws it out.

But don’t worry, I’m here to help. I’ve got a brand new idea. We’re going to shed that excess and make you all nice and proper again.

How? Using something I like to call “Playlist Setup I Totally Stole From Halo 3 Because It @#$$%^&&* WORKED And Was Simple” or “PSITSFH3BI@WAWS”.

Now “PSITSFH3BI@WAWS” works by following some simple, easy to-understand beginning steps, followed by some slightly more difficult but no less important steps.

Step 1: Make the Title Update changes universal. This is important; we can’t have people bouncing around with completely different basic gameplay in playlists and in-game. Just sack up and do it. No dev has had the wishy-washy you’ve got going on here before with a TU.

Step 2: Release that by having less, you please more. Actually being able to find and play a good game is more important than having 20 different kinds of games out there.

That second step, you might get hung up on it, but its okay. You’ll get through it.

The third step starts the hard part, but its important. Condensing. You need to clean house and reduce the number of playlists you’ve got going on in here. However, thanks to “PSITSFH3BI@WAWS”, here is what you need.

Step 3

Ranked Playlists - Use Arena Rankings
Team Slayer - 4v4, Tight Party Restrictions, No Guests, 4 Max Party Size, Only 2 Local Players- ALL DLC Required

MLG - 4v4 ,Tight Party Settings, No Guests, Only 2 Local Players - if Objective makes Arena Rankings impossible then move it to “Community” section - DLC Required (if needed by MLG)

FFA - 6 Player FFA Slayer (Objective if possible), No Parties or Local Players

Team Doubles - 2v2 Slayer (Objective if possible), No Guests, Max Party Size 2, 2 Local Players Max

Social Playlists - Unranked
Social Slayer - 5v5 Slayer, Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players - Voting options sometimes include “odd” gametypes like SWAT, Snipers, Swords etc.

Social Skirmish - 5v5 Objective, Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players

Multi-Team - 2v2v2v2 Slayer and Objective, Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players

Big Team Battle - 8v8 Slayer and Objective on BTB Maps, Moderate Party Restrictions Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players - ALL DLC REQUIRED

Invasion - 6v6 Invasion Gametypes, Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players - Noble DLC Required

Premium Squad - 5v5 Slayer and Objective, Guests Allowed, 4 Max Local Players - ALL DLC REQUIRED

Classic - 4v4 CLASSIC Settings

Community - Unranked
Infection
Action Sack - Randomly plays many of the team-based “fun” gametypes, like Grifball
Two Rotating “Double EXP” Weekend Playlists - Two Random Playlists available only on the weekend that give double credits. IE: Team Snipers, Race, Grifball, SWAT etc.

Now we’ve cut back quite a few playlists here, and made the system much easier to understand more than likely increased the population for a couple of playlists. All thanks to “PSITSFH3BI@WAWS”. some of the change might seem odd or unnecessary, but if further explanation is needed I’ll give it. Like for example why I removed “Team Objective” and replaced it with “Social Skirmish”. Why? Because the 5v5 TO playlist has always been more popular, and putting up that new playlist will attract more people than changing the old one and trying to convince people its really changed.

No mate, youve got no right to impose the TU changes on me. I do not like it and i do not want it and im not the only one by far. They shouldnt have even put TU in the 3 former vanilla lists that they did, it should only be for the specialist Anniversary lists and just do whatever mlg wants in their list to keep them quiet.

Yes. The one thing about the TU2 is that it is optional (back to wishy-washy), where you can either play in the playlists with the TU or the identical ones without (minus anniversary, very different). So if your idea was made effective. we would either have double the playlists (which defeats the purpose) or lose the freedom of choosing your game type settings (which would make people give up reach, lower playlist population, defeating the purpose)

No…no…no, no, no, no, no. There was a reason Double EXP was in HAlo 3: You earned 1 exp per win. That makes it difficult, but shows more skill than reach. During Double EXP, more convoluted game types gave you a chance to win 2 exp instead, to speed things up a bit. In reach, we already have boosters and massive Challenge Rewards, plus predictable Jackpots. It just wouldnt work the same if there was double EXP in reach.

Yeah, well maybe more than just a few of us are tired of watching beautiful sticks get negated with the press of a button. Maybe we’re tired of seeing someone’s elbow stop our Energy Sword even though their chest couldn’t. Maybe we don’t like double melee being one of the most annoying tactics ever conceived.

The TU should go into every playlist that doesn’t already have a specific set of rules (IE: Grifball).

As for double EXP, you realize that Reach has already had double exp playlists, right? The biggest example of which was the Premium playlists of old, which paid out 2x as many credits and had more frequent higher jackpots than the regular playlists.
