Playlist choices for Halo 4

They suck.

My problems with the playlists:

Infinity Slayer: Unabalanced, boring, and powerweapons everywhere. There’s no goals and it’s mindless manslaughter without any strategy.

Big Team Infinty Slayer: Ha. Lets take infinity slayer and add vehicles, that’ll end well. Oh, and it’s also the only Big Team playlist in the game, because to hell with vehicles being useful. (Aside from dominion, which is strictly dominion)

Regicide: Objective free for all. Nothing but suicidal jetpack AR’ers going 21/24 and winning whilst I go 28/8 and lose. Wouldn’t be so bad if there was another FFA playlist… there isn’t.

Dominion: Nothing terrible here. It’s got some glaring problems, like the magical oversheilds that tend to come on right as I’m about to kill someone, but no real complaints.

Flood: I resent this playlist, because the flood models were our “replacement” for elites, and with this gametype they singlehandedly buchered custom games. Don’t get me started on the cruddy maps.

SWAT: No real problems. I’d prefer better maps, and lack of DMR, but I can live with it…

Grifball:

Oddball: Meh, not horrible, but not great. Map selections are terrible, though.

CTF: Probably the single best playlist in the game. Maps are still awful.

Team Regicide: Because who doesn’t like having a waypoint over your head while your moronic teammates abandon you and immediatly get themselves killed? No really, it’s greaaaat. The one good slayer playlist in the game and I’ve got a target on my back that anyone can see from any spot on the map. Great.

Playlists the game needs:

Classic: HOW. THE. -Yoink-. was this not in the game already? Don’t give me that “Slayer Pro” (which isn’t even in the game, as they are editing it) nonsense, because that’s the equivilant of barebones from COD, and is in no way balanced (it’s just not as unbalanced as I.S).

Competitive: A healthy mixture of the balanced new items, whilst still retaining old playstyles and maps. Basically? Infinty slayer, no ordinance or DMR/Boltshot/Camo/PV, forge map remakes, and objective and slayer gameplay.

Big Team Classic: Ok, self explanatory here. BTIS, is a horrific wreck, and is basically a suicide run for anyone who isn’t in a banshee or a mantis.

Classic settings, big maps and more balanced vehicles gameplay. (IE, get rid of the mantis.)

Alright, so that’s my thoughts on the playlists. I’d have put team doubles in the “needed” playlists, but that’s confired for early february.

Suggestions etc. are always welcome, and sorry for the rather aggravated way I was typing there. I’m just starting to get really irked by the lack of decent slayer, FFA and classic/competitive playlists.

There’s been upwards of seventeen ‘playlist suggestion threads’ posted over the last few months, and so far nothing has been done. Perhaps refer to those. Anyway, it suddenly seems like 343i is about to make a major shift towards ‘restored matchmaking’ by way of a ‘revised philosophy’ so let’s just sit tight and hope that’s for real.

Remember, one of the KEY issues with Matchmaking (Since Reach and all the online Halo titles before it) is the loss of those gametypes which CATER TO ANY PARTY SIZE- With a MIX of Deathmatch and Objective of course- So, not JUST Doubles- Multi-Team and the removal of BTB: Objective has been a major killer for Halo Matchmaking since Reach. We simply can’t operate a whole squad (Other than Slayer, and Slayer of course is for kids and simple folk), or, when we are down a few guys- We have to fit into a squad with some random Joey- Who, in keeping with Halo 4 tradition, is usually some mouth-breathing, monster-swilling, team-killing moron. Amazing isn’t it!

Anyways, as a Clan leader since Halo 2 launch day, I can honestly say that if this ‘343i figuring it out’ rumour is true, then my ever-growing ulcer may in fact subside and I may even convince a few lost soldiers to REJOIN THE FIGHT. Anyways, I appreciate that after the last few months of fan upheaval that there are still a few intelligent people who care posting in here. Lord knows we’ve lost a lot of them throughout this whole crazy process. Patience is a virtue. Or insane.

Cheers

You must not play against me then; when I’m in regicide I usually go 20+ with 8-12 deaths. It’s funny when people use jetpack in haven on the lower level - you can’t fly through the ceiling! I often manage top 3 using the ar as my main when I play without using the jetpack. I guess I’m not part of the majority of suiciders.

Indeed, it does appear that way. That said, their playlist choices are still… lackluster.

We were promised a “Classic” playlist to be on matchmaking. And while “Slayer Pro” is indeed a stripped down playlist, it is not classic. It is also not in the game anymore, as they are revising it (hopefully, making it classic…)

I know doubles is to be in early feb, but I feel that a decently balanced playlist should have been priority, and the first thing released. Instead, we got forge playlist (I am happy about this one, but the maps play horrible with IS) and grifball… Grif. Ball.

Indeed. That said, there do need to be competitive playlists. In regards to your comment about slayer being for kids, or simple foke, I disagree. While it isn’t the most strategic gameplay, it is far more strategic than say, KoTH. Slayer in previous games has always been quite fun, with the more dominant team coming out on top…

The players are very annoying, I will agree. That is where a 1-50 that alters gameplay would come in handy, but yet again we don’t have one.

We do need mixed playlists though, I fully agree with that.

I hope that 343i are indeed bettering themselves. I did see a post by the matchmaking team regarding a “Competition” playlist to be implemented just before CSR, but it appears to only be slayer… for now.

Most of the more competitive players I knew have since disbanded. The one guy I played MLG with in reach has been playing Blops 2, and has hardly touched Halo 4. Others have ceased to play at all, which is saddening.

Hopefully 343i can implement a few good playlists. Also, sorry if any of my posts seem “angry” or attacking, they’re not so much directed at you, as more just me randomly jotting thougths down again…

The post you were likely referring to states that we are indeed looking into multiple game types for this playlist.
