The content update hasn’t made trying to play with friends any easier. It’s almost comical.
– Most of the time, your friends are unjoinable (if they show up in the roster at all): the “Join” option is either grayed out or not there at all.
– If you do manage to join them, finding a match together is impossible. We gave up after several 10+ minute attempts. What usually happens is you’ll be split into two separate search parties, so your friend will disappear but the search will seem to continue without him (and vice versa for him). No game will come.
– What’s also really frustrating is there doesn’t seem to be a “leader.” In previous versions, one of you would be the party leader, the other would have no control. You go wherever the leader takes you. In MCC (so far), when joined with a friend, if he (the leader) backs out of a search because it’s not yielding any results, you’ll be stuck in that search still. You don’t follow where the leader goes.
Honestly, at this point, I’m finding it all incredibly amusing. I’ve pulled the 360 out of retirement so I can continue to enjoy functional matchmaking in not one, not two, but three Halo games.
